시간은 하나님의 선물
전 3:11

생명의 말씀

“하나님이 모든 것을 지으시되 때를 따라 아름답게 하셨고 또 사람에게 영원을 사모하는 마음을 주셨느니라 그러나 하나님의 하시는 일의 시종을 사람으로 측량할 수 없게 하셨도다"

하나님은 사람을 창조하시되 영원성을 두고 창조하셨습니다. 전3:11에도 “또 사람에게 영원을 사모하는 마음을 주셨느니라”는 말씀이 이를 뒷받침해줍니다. 사람을 창조하신 하나님은 연대가 다함이 없으신 분입니다(히1:12). 또한 어제나 오늘이나 영원토록 변함이 없고 동일하신 분입니다(히13:8). 그러한 하나님께서 당신의 형상으로 사람을 창조하실 때 유한하고 죽음으로 끝나는 허무한 존재로 지으시지 않았습니다. 분명 타락으로 인해서 시간이라는 한계 상황 속에서 살고 있지만 역설적으로 그 한계 속에서 하나님의 영원성을 깨달아야 됩니다. 그렇게 될 때 우리는 시간이 하나님의 선물임을 알게 됩니다.

엡5:16에 세월을 아끼라고 하였습니다. 이는 세월을 놓치지 말고, 다시 찾아오라는 뜻입니다. 영국의 역사가 토인비가 말했듯이 시간은 매일매일이 기적입니다. 모든 사람들에게 동일하게, 공평하게 배정되며 주어지는 시간 속에서 인간은 희망을 품고 살아갑니다. 시간의 그 신비적 실재를 체험하게 되면 하나님의 선물에 감사감격하지 않을 수 없습니다. 이를 체험한 사람은 시간을 선용하여 열심히 살아갈 수밖에 없습니다. 나의 날이 ‘연기’(시102:3)같고 ‘한 호흡’(욥7:7)같으며 죽으면 ‘소멸되는’(욥14:10) 허무한 인생! 그러나 하나님은 그들에게 시간을 선물로 주셨습니다. 그래서 어김없이 내일의 태양이 떠오르며 오늘을 살아가는 시간이라는 재산을 매일매일 공급해 주십니다.

하나님의 선물의 가치와 귀중성을 깨닫지 못하고 시간 속에서 떠나버린 하나님을 놓쳐버리고 다시 찾을 생각도 하지 않는 것이 오늘날 인류의 현 주소입니다. 하지만 분명히 명심할 것은, 시간은 믿는 자에게는 하나님의 선물이지만 믿지 않는 자에게는 무서운 심판이 된다는 사실입니다. 시간의 값을 요구하시고 반드시 찾으시는 하나님이기 때문입니다. 이를 깨닫고 세월을 아끼시기 바랍니다. 주어진 시간 속에서 하나님의 영원성을 발견하여 붙잡읍시다.

하나님의 주신 시간의 선물, 그 속에서 하나님의 사랑과 구속의 은총을 발견하고 영원을 사모하는 마음으로 오늘 하루를 살아갈 수 있도록 기도하십시오.

Ecclesiastes 3:11

The Word of Life

He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.

God created man as an eternal being. Ecclesiastes 3:11 supports this fact, “He has also set eternity in the human heart”. The years of God who created mankind has no end (Heb 1:12). Furthermore, He is the same yesterday, today and eternally unchanging (Heb 13:8). This God did not create mankind in His image to die and end in vain. We are definitely living in a set amount of time as a result of the fall however we must actively understand the eternity of God within these limitations. When we are able to do this we can understand that time is the gift of God.

In Ephesians 5:16 it tells us not to waste our days. This means for us to not lose the days that we are faced with but to go and find it. Just as the British historian Toynbee said, time is an everyday miracle. It is given equally to all people and in that given time humans live with hope in their hearts. When we experience the mysterious truth of time we cannot but marvel and be thankful at the gift of God. The person who experiences this cannot but live a life that utilizes time well. Our days are like ‘fog’ (Psa 102:3), and ‘a breath of air’ (Job 7:7) that ‘disappears’ (Job 14:10).

However, God has given to us time as a gift thus when the sun rises each day He provides us with an inheritance of time for us to live.

At present the world today do not realize the value and preciousness of the gift of God and lose sight of God who has left their time and don’t even think of searching for Him. However, we must remember that to those who believe in time it is a gift of God but to those who don’t believe becomes a horrific judgment. This is because God always requests the wages of time and seeks it out. Please understand this and don’t waste time. Let us seek out and hold on to the eternity of God within the time that has been allotted to us.

Prayer Title

Let us seek out the love of God and grace of salvation within time, the gift that God has given to us and pray that we can live today with a heart that yearns eternity.
