우리가 이 자리에 있기까지
고전15:10-11

생명의 말씀

그러나 나의 나 된 것은 하나님의 은혜로 된 것이니 내게 주신 그의 은혜가 헛되지 아니하여 내가 모든 사도보다 더 많이 수고하였으나 내가 아니요 오직 나와 함께 하신 하나님의 은혜로라 그러므로 내나 저희나 이같이 전파하매 너희도 이같이 믿었느니라”

사도바울은 “나의 나 된 것은 오직 하나님의 은혜로 된 것이라”(고전15:10)고 고백하고 있습니다. 이는 참으로 진실된 고백이요 은혜의 고백입니다. 오늘날 내가 지금의 자리에 있기 까지는 나의 노력이나 땀으로 된 것이 아니라 배후에서 역사하여 주신 하나님의 은혜의 손길, 하나님의 열심의 손길이 있었기 때문에 가능한 것입니다.

하나님의 이러한 열심은 구원사의 큰 흐름 속에서 도도히 흐르는 강물처럼 드러나고 있습니다. 무엇보다 구원자 예수 그리스도를 보내시기 위해 열심을 내셨습니다. 한 아기를 이 땅에 보내사 영존하시는 아버지로 평강의 왕으로 삼으셔서 온 인류를 죄악 가운데서 구원하셨습니다. 이사야 선지자는 이 모든 것을 “만군의 여호와의 열심”이 이루셨다고 하였습니다(사9:6-7). 뿐만 아니라 출애굽의 과정에서 당신의 콧김으로 홍해를 갈라 마른 땅으로 이스라엘 백성들을 인도하시는 열심을 보여주셨습니다.

당신의 백성들을 사랑하사 ‘부지런히’사자들을 백성에게 보내셨습니다(대하36:15). 그러한 은혜를 입고도 불순종하여 바벨론에 포로로 끌려갔을 때에도 하나님은 외면하지 아니하시고 바벨론 포로 생활에서 해방시켜 주셨습니다. 에스겔 선지자는 이 또한 하나님께서 ‘열심을 내어’야곱의 사로잡힌 자를 돌아오게 하시고 이스라엘 온 족속에게 긍휼을 베풀어 주시겠다고 증거하고 있습니다(겔39:25).

이러한 하나님의 열심의 결과 다메섹 도상에서 빛의 체험을 통해 변화된 사도바울은 다음과 같이 고백하고 있습니다. “내가 하나님의 열심히 너희를 위하여 열심 내노니...”(고후11:2). 사람의 노력과 열심이 아니라 하나님의 열심으로 그리스도께로 인도하고자 애썼음을 말해주고 있습니다. 오늘 하루도 사도바울처럼 하나님의 뜨거운 열심을 품고 주를 섬기는 성도가 되시기 바랍니다(롬12:11).

<기도제목>

오늘날 내가 이 자리에 있기 까지는 보이지 않는 하나님의 사랑과 열심의 손이 있었기 때문입니다. 이를 깨닫고 사도바울처럼 오늘 하루도 하나님의 열심을 품고 주의 일에, 주어진 일에 최선을 다하는 하루가 되기를 기도하십시오.

The Word of Life

But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them—yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me. Whether, then, it is I or they, this is what we preach, and this is what you believed.

The apostle Paul is confessing in 1 Corinthians 15:10 that “by the grace of God I am what I am”. This is truly an honest confession and a confession of grace. We did not proceed this far through our own effort or toil but because behind the scenes God’s hands of grace and zeal were at work.

As such the zeal of God I being revealed just like river waters that stream down within the great flow of the work of salvation. God was most zealous in sending Jesus Christ the savior. By sending a child upon this world and considering him the eternal father, the prince of peace He saved mankind from the midst of all their sins. The prophet Isaiah says all these things were done by “the zeal of the Lord of Hosts” (Isa 9:6-7).

Moreover, in the process of the exodus, God showed His zeal by dividing the Red Sea through the blast of His nostrils and leading the Israelites to dry land. Because He loved His people He ‘diligently’ sent His lions to the people (2 Kings 36:15). Regardless of receiving such grace they disobeyed and were taken away as slaves into Babylon. However, God did not turn away from them and liberated them from Babylonian captivity. The prophet Ezekiel I also testifying that God ‘worked diligently’ and allowed those belonging to James who were captured to return and bestowed mercy upon all the tribes of Israel (Ezk 39:25).

The apostle Paul who was changed by experiencing the light in the city of Damascus as a result of this zeal of God makes this following confession. “I am jealous for you with a godly jealousy...” (2 Cir 11:2). This tells us that he did not lead through humanly effort and toils but rather it shows us that he led people to the Lord through the zeal of God. Today may you become like the apostle Paul who carries the burning zeal of God and serves Him (Rom 12:11).

Prayer Title

We have made it this far in our lives because of the hidden love of God and his zealous hands. May you realize this and pray that you may carry the diligence of God and try your best to do the Work of God and all given tasks.
