하나님께서 흠향하시는 제물
창8:20-21

생명의 말씀

“노아가 여호와를 위하여 단을 쌓고 모든 정결한 짐승 중에서와 모든 정결한 새 중에서 취하여 번제로 단에 드렸더니 여호와께서 그 향기를 흠향하시고 그 중심에 이르시되 내가 다시는 사람으로 인하여 땅을 저주하지 아니하리니 이는 사람의 마음의 계획하는 바가 어려서부터 악함이라 내가 전에 행한 것같이 모든 생물을 멸하지 아니하리니”

노아 홍수 심판 후 노아가 방주에서 나온 후 하나님 앞에 정결한 짐승으로 번제를 드릴 때 하나님께서 그 연기를 흠향하신 후 다시는 물로 인생들을 저주하지 않겠다고 약속하고 있습니다(창8:20-21). 이 말씀을 통해 하나님께서 흠향하시는 제물은 무엇인지 함께 살펴보도록 하겠습니다.

창세기 8장에서 노아가 드린 제물은 ‘정결한’ 짐승입니다. 이를 적용하면 성도는 죄가 있으면 정결한 제물이 될 수 없다는 것을 의미합니다. 모든 죄악과 육신의 생각, 심지어 우리의 몸까지도 십자가에 못을 박아야 산 제물이 될 수 있음을 말씀하고 있는 것입니다. 나 자신을 십자가에 못박을 때 내 안에서 사는 그리스도의 은혜와 능력으로 정결한 삶을 살 수 있고 하나님이 원하시는 향기를 내뿜는 성도가 되기 때문입니다(갈2:20).

사도바울은 로마서 8:5-8절에서, 육신의 생각, 육신의 마음은 하나님 앞에 산 제물이 될 수 없다고 말씀하고 있습니다. 육신을 좇는 자는 육신의 일을 생각하고 그 결국은 사망에 이르러 하나님과 원수가 되기 때문입니다. 그러므로 정결한 제물은 육의 생각이 아니라 영의 생각으로 충만한 성도를 뜻합니다. 이러한 사람은 가는 곳마다 사람들에게 생명에 이르는 향기를 나타냅니다. 성도의 입을 통해서 선포되는 말씀을 사람들이 아멘으로 영접하면 그 사람들에게 생명의 향기가 전달되는 것입니다. 하지만 말씀을 듣지 않고 거부하며 핍박한다면 그 사람들에게는 사망에 이르는 냄새가 나가게 됩니다. 이것이 바로 성도가 지닌 두 가지 하나님의 축복이요 능력입니다.

고후2:14-15절을 보면 “항상 우리를 그리스도 안에서 이기게 하시고 우리로 말미암아 각처에서 그리스도를 아는 냄새를 나타내시는 하나님께 감사하노라”는 말씀이 나옵니다. 이 말씀과 같이 도처에 그리스도의 생명의 향기를 내뿜는 산 제물, 정결한 제물이 됩시다.

<기도제목>

하나님께서 기뻐하시는 향기로운 제물이 되기 위해 내 속에 있는 모든 죄악의 찌꺼기를 불태울뿐 아니라 나의 삶을 온전히 주께 드릴 수 있도록 기도하십시오.

The Word of Life

Then Noah built an altar to the Lord and, taking some of all the clean animals and clean birds, he sacrificed burnt offerings on it. The Lord smelled the pleasing aroma and said in his heart:

“Never again will I curse the ground because of humans, even though[]every inclination of the human heart is evil from childhood. And never again will I destroy all living creatures, as I have done.

After the flood judgment once Noah had come out of the Ark and offered up burnt sacrifices to God with animals that were clean, God received the fumes with joy and promised that He would no longer curse the lives of men with water (Gen 8:20-21). Through this Word let us investigate what kind of offerings God received with joy.

In Genesis 8 the offerings that Noah offered up were ‘clean’ animals. When we apply this, this means that when a saint has sin, that saint cannot become a clean offering. Hence, all of our sins including the thoughts of our flesh, even our bodies must be crucified on the cross in order for it to become a living sacrifice. When we crucifix ourselves on the cross we can live a clean life through the grace and power of Christ that live within us and become saints that let out the aroma that God desires (Gal 2:20).

In Romans 8:5-8 the apostle Paul tells us that the thoughts and heart of the flesh cannot become a living sacrifice before God. The one who goes after the flesh thinks about the things of the flesh and eventually lead themselves to death and become an enemy of God.

Therefore, a clean offering signifies a saint that is full of the thought of the spirit than that of the flesh. Such a person will reveal to others the aroma that leads to life wherever he/she goes. When a saint receives the Word that the saint proclaims with amen, then the aroma of life will be delivered to that person. However if they don’t listen to the Word, reject it and oppress it then that person will be tainted with the scent that leads to death. These are the two blessings of God that a saint possesses.

In 2 Corinthians 2:14-15 it is written, “But thanks be to God, who always leads us as captives in Christ’s triumphal procession and uses us to spread the aroma of the knowledge of him everywhere”. Just like this Word let us become a living, clean sacrifice that lets out Christ’s aroma of life.

Prayer Title

Pray that we may burn all of the remaining remnants of sin that are within us to become a fragrant sacrifice and forfeit our lives completely to the Lord.
