복있는 사람 2
시1:1-3

생명의 말씀

“복 있는 사람은 악인의 꾀를 좇지 아니하며 죄인의 길에 서지 아니하며 오만한 자의 자리에 앉지 아니하고 오직 여호와의 율법을 즐거워하여 그 율법을 주야로 묵상하는 자로다 저는 시냇가에 심은 나무가 시절을 좇아 과실을 맺으며 그 잎사귀가 마르지 아니함 같으니 그 행사가 다 형통하리로다"

시편 기자가 말씀하는 복있는 사람의 두 번째 모습은 죄인의 길에 서지 않는 것입니다. 여기서 '죄인'은 히브리어로 '죄' 또는 '죄인'을 뜻하는 '하타'의 복수형인 '하타임'입니다. 이 단어의 뜻은 과녁을 향해 활 시위를 당겼는데 화살이 과녁에 도달하지 못하고 빗나간 상태를 말합니다. 이처럼 '죄'란 하나님의 뜻에 일치하지 못하는 것입니다. 말씀에 주목하고 온전히 순종하여 하나님의 뜻과 나의 생각이 정확히 일치해야 됩니다. 이것이 일치되지 못하고 어긋날 때 죄인이 되는 것입니다.

교만한 사람들은 하나님의 생각보다 자기 생각과 판단이 옳다고 주장합니다. 자기가 최고입니다. 이처럼 교만하기 때문에 진실이 눈 앞에 있어도 제대로 보지 못하고 끝까지 고집을 부립니다. 그 결과는 멸망입니다. "바위 틈에 거하며 높은 곳에 사는 자여 네가 중심에 이르기를 누가 능히 나를 땅에 끌어내리겠느냐 하니 너의 중심의 교만이 너를 속였도다"(옵1:3)라고 하신 말씀처럼, 교만이 자신을 속이고 땅에 끌어 내립니다. 반면에 참된 순종은 "에 하고 아니라 함이 되지 아니하였으니 저에게는 예만 되었느니라"(고후1:19)는 말씀과 같습니다.

또한 복있는 사람은 하나님의 말씀을 묵상하는 자입니다. 묵상이란 히브리어 '하가'로서 "연구적 태도로 조용히 읽고 생각하고 또 생각하는 것"을 말합니다. 이처럼 말씀을 반복해서 읽고 생각하는 사람은 마치 시냇가에 심은 나무와 같습니다. 가뭄이 와도 염려가 없습니다. 어떤 환난과 어려움이 와도 요동함이 없는 사람입니다. 늘 평안하고 마음에 동요가 없습니다. 시절을 좇아 아름다운 과실을 맺습니다. 반면에 이러한 생각과 묵상이 없는 사람은 바람에 나는 겨와 같이 흔적조차 없이 사라지고 맙니다. 삼가 말씀에 주의하는 자가 좋은 것을 얻고 여호와를 의지하는 자가 복을 얻게 됩니다(잠16:20).

죄인의 길에 혹 들어섰다면 오늘 말씀을 통해 얼른 돌이키고 말씀을 묵상하는 삶을 통해 시냇가에 심은 나무처럼 형통한 삶을 위해 기도하십시오.

The Word of Life

“Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither—what ever they do prospers.”

The second character of the person who is blessed that the psalmist refers to is the one who does not walk in the step of the wicked. Here ‘sinner’or sin in Hebrew is ‘hataim’ the plural form of ‘hatar'. The meaning of this word is a state of an arrow that has been shot at a target but missed its mark. As such, ‘sin’ is not in line with the will of God. We must focus on the Word and obey completely in order for the will of God and our thoughts to be precisely in sync. If this isn’t in order we will become sinners.

Arrogant people claim that their judgment is correct over what God thinks. They consider themselves the best. Because they are arrogant even though they behold the truth, they cannot see properly and continue to be stubborn. This results in destruction. Just as it is recorded in Obadiah 1:3, “the pride of your heart has deceived you, you who live in the clefts of the rocks and make your home on the heights, you who say to yourself, ‘Who can bring me down to the ground?”, arrogance deceives us and drags us down to the ground. Conversely, true obedience “was not “Yes” and “No,” but in him it has always been “Yes” (2 Cor 1:19).

Moreover, a person who is blessed is a person who meditates on the Word of God. Meditate in Hebrew is ‘haga’ which means to “read quietly in an investigative manner and think and rethink”. Likewise when we read the Word repeatedly our lives will become like a tree planted on a river. We need not worry during a drought. Such is a person who does not quiver when faced with sufferings and difficulties. The heart is always at peace and the heart doesn’t move. It bears beautiful fruit according to the season. In contrast, a person who does not have such thoughts or meditation will disappear out of sight like chaff that blows in the air. The one who humbly inclines ones ears to the Word will gain good things and the one who relies on the Lord will receive blessings (Prov 16:20).

Prayer Title

If you have stepped into the step of the wicked then through today’s Word may you turn away immediately and by living a life of meditating on the Word pray that your life will be prosperous like a tree planted on a river bank.
