문둥병자에게 베푸신 은혜
막1:40-42

생명의 말씀

“한 문둥병자가 예수께 와서 꿇어 엎드리어 간구하여 가로되 원하시면 저를 깨끗케 하실 수 있나이다 예수께서 민망히 여기사 손을 내밀어 저에게 대시며 가라사대 내가 원하노니 깨끗함을 받으라 하신대 곧 문둥병이 그 사람에게서 떠나가고 깨끗하여진지라”

이스라엘에서 문둥병자는 하나님께 저주받은 것으로 알려져 사람들로부터 격리되어 살아왔습니다. 그러나 본문에 나오는 주인공은 예수님에 관한 소문을 듣고 달려 나옴으로 큰 은혜를 받아 깨끗하게 나음을 입었습니다. 문둥병자에게 베푸신 예수님의 은혜는 무엇일까요?

첫째, 민망히 여기셨습니다. ‘민망’하다는 말은 ‘답답하고 딱하며, 걱정스럽다’는 뜻이 담겨 있습니다. 문둥병자에 대해 예수님께서 민망히 여기셨다는 것은 그에 대한 예수님의 동정의 발로이고 긍휼의 표현이라고 할 수 있습니다(엡2:4). 문둥병자뿐 아니라 누구든지 주께 나아와 엎드리면 하나님은 “모든 위로의 하나님”(고후1:3)이 되어 주시기 때문에 긍휼이 여김을 받을 수 있습니다.

둘째, 손을 내미셨습니다. 문둥병자에게 최고의 은혜를 베푸는 것은 그의 몸에 손을 대는 것입니다. 어느 누가 고름이 나고 피부가 문드러진 병자에게 손을 대려 하겠습니까? 그러나 예수님께서는 직접 문둥병자에게 손을 내밀어 만져 주셨습니다(1:41). 어느 누구도 접촉은하지 않고, 격리시켜 산간벽지나 계곡에서 사는 자가 문둥병자입니다. 그러한 문둥병자를 예수님께선 민망히 여기시고 가까이 가셔서 손을 대어주셨으니 최대의 자비, 최대의 사랑과 은혜를 베푸신 것이 아니겠습니까?

셋째, 은혜롭고 자비로운 말씀으로 고쳐줬습니다. “내가 원하노니 깨끗함을 받으라”(:41)는 말씀은 병자에게 있어 최고의 은혜의 말씀입니다. “내 이름을 경외하는 너희에게는 의로운 해가 떠올라서 치료하는 광선을 발하리니”(말4:2)라고 말씀하셨듯이, 예수님께서는 은혜롭고 자비로운 말씀으로 문둥병자를 고쳐주셨습니다.

이러한 은혜를 받은 문둥병자는 동서남북 사방에 자신이 받은 은혜를 증거함으로 수많은 사람들을 주께로 인도했습니다. 이처럼 교회는 하나님의 은혜를 사모하고 은혜받은 자들의 역할로 부흥하게 되는 것입니다.

<기도제목>

문둥병자와 같은 절망의 인생도 주님을 만남으로 은혜를 받아 긍휼을 얻고, 말씀으로 치유를 받는 축복을 체험했다면, 오늘 하루 여러분의 인생에서도 이와같은 주님의 자비와 긍휼, 은혜의 말씀이 임하기를 위해 기도하십시오.

The Grace Bestowed Upon the Leprous Man
Mark 1:40-42

The Word of Life

A man with leprosy came to him and begged him on his knees, “If you are willing, you can make me clean.” Jesus was indignant. He reached out his hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” he said. “Be clean!” Immediately the leprosy left him and he was cleansed.

In Israel, people with leprosy were known to be cursed by God and lived isolated from other people. However, the main character that appears in the main verse came to Jesus having heard of him and received the great grace of being cleansed completely.

First, He had pity on him. The Word ‘pity’ embodies the meaning of ‘feeling heavy with worries and concern. Jesus having pity on the leper can be seen as an expression of Jesus’ compassion and benevolence (Eph 2:4). Not only the leper but whoever comes forth before the Lord and kneels before Him will be able to experience the “God who becomes the comforter” (2 Cor 1:3) and will receive compassion.

Second, Jesus held out his hand. The greatest grace that can be shown to a leper is placing ones hand on his/her body. Who would want to touch the body of a leper whose skin is oozing with puss? However Jesus held out his hand first and touched the leper’s hand (1:41). Lepers are people who live in isolation in remote areas or valleys and make no contact with other people but Jesus had pity on the leprous man and put his hand on him. Isn’t this the greatest compassion and love?

Third, Jesus healed him with the Word of mercy. “If you are willing, you can make me clean” (:41). These words are the greatest Words of grace to the sick. As recorded in Malachi 4:2, “But for you who revere my name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its rays”, Jesus healed the leprous man with the Word.

The leprous man who received this grace led numerous people to the Lord by testifying of the grace he’d received throughout the four corners. Likewise, the church is revived through those who yearn for the grace of God and by the roles of those who’ve received grace.

Prayer Title

The leprous man lived a life of despair before he met Jesus and received grace, and earned compassion and healing through the Word. Pray that you too will be able to experience the benevolence and compassion, the Word of grace in your life.
