네 발에서 신을 벗으라 2
출3:4-5

생명의 말씀

“여호와께서 그가 보려고 돌이켜 오는 것을 보신지라 하나님이 떨기나무 가운데서 그를 불러 가라사대 모세야 모세야 하시매 그가 가로되 내가 여기 있나이다 하나님이 가라사대 이리로 가까이 하지 말라 너의 선 곳은 거룩한 땅이니 네 발에서 신을 벗으라”

벗는다는 것은 마치 뱀이 허물을 벗어 던지듯, 나의 모든 과오와 죄악들, 나의 생각과 아집의 껍질들을 다 벗어 던진다는 의미입니다. 한마디로 겸손하게 자신을 낮추고 모든 소유를 포기함으로서 오직 하나님의 은혜로 거듭나는 것을 가리킵니다.

이는 신약에서 사도바울이 말한 바, “너희는 유혹의 욕심을 따라 썩어져가는 구습을 좇는 옛 사람을 벗어버리고”(엡4:22)라는 말씀과 맥이 닿습니다. 이어서 사도바울은 “오직 심령으로 새롭게 되어 하나님을 따라 의와 진리의 거룩함으로 지으심을 받은 새 사람을 입으라”(엡4:23-24)고 말씀했습니다. 그러므로 신발을 벗는 이유는 새 신을 신기 위함입니다. 옛 사람을 벗어 버리는 것은 새 사람을 입기 위한 이치와도 같습니다.

바로의 궁중에서 세계 최고의 학문을 배웠고 왕자로서 대접받는 삶을 살았기에 인간적으로 모세가 존경받고 완벽할 삶을 살았을 것입니다. 하지만 하나님은 그런 인간적인 완벽함보다 거룩한 사람으로 거듭나길 원하셨습니다. 이를 위해 과거의 신발을 벗고 하나님이 주시는 새로운 사명지를 향해 순종으로 나아가길 바라셨습니다. 마르다와 마리아가 한 사람은 음식준비의 일에, 다른 한 사람을 발 아래 앉아 주님의 말씀을 듣고 그 말씀의 뜻을 이루기 위해 살았습니다. 뜻으로 볼 때 마르다는 자기 신발을 신고 분주하였지만, 마르다는 자기 신을 벗고 예수님의 말씀의 신을 새로 신는 좋은 편을 택하였었기에 칭찬을 받은 것입니다.

신을 벗으라! 이는 하나님께서 영원히 함께 하시겠다는 신호이기도 합니다. 이제부터 나와 함께 살자. 내가 너한테 새 신을 줄테니 세상 신을 벗어버리고 말씀의 신을 신으라는 싸인입니다. 이 신호를 알아듣고 파란 신호등처럼 전진하는 역사가 있기를 바라겠습니다. 불손종의 빨간 신호등, 의심의 노란 신호등이 아니라 언제나 말씀의 길에 전진하는 파란 신호등만이 켜져있는 복된 삶이 되시기 바랍니다.

나의 신발을 벗고 하나님이 주시는 새로운 사명의 신, 말씀의 신을 신고 하나님께 함께 동행하는 복된 하루를 위해 기도하십시오.

The Word of Life

When the Lord saw that he had gone over to look, God called to him from within the bush, “Moses! Moses!” And Moses said, “Here I am.” “Do not come any closer,” God said. “Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy ground.”

‘To take off’ means to shed all of my wrongdoings and sin, my thoughts and stubbornness just like a snake sheds its skin. In other words, it refers to humbling ourselves by forfeiting all of our possessions and becoming renewed by only God’s grace.

This links to the words spoken by the apostle Paul in the New Testament, “You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires” ( Eph 4:22). In addition the apostle Paul said “to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness” (Eph 4:23-24). Therefore the reason we need to take our shoes off is to put on new ones. It is likewise when we shed off our old self to reveal our new self.

Moses would have been respected and lived a perfect life in pharaoh’s palace as he received the world’s best education and treated well as a prince. However, God wanted him to be renewed as a righteous person than a man who was perfect by human standards. He wanted him to take off his shoes and go forth in obedience to the new place of mandate that God had provided. Martha was busy preparing food and Mary was busy sitting at the feet of Jesus listening to the Word and lived to carry out the Word of God. When we see God’s will, Martha put her own shoes on and was busy but Mary took her shoes off and put the shoes of Jesus’ Word’s on and was praised for choosing the better side.

Take off your shoes! This is also a sign that God will be with us forever. Live with me from now onwards. It is a sign that He will give you a new pair of shoes so take off the shoes of this world and put on the shoes of the Word.

I hope that you understand this sign and in doing so, may there may be a work of only green lights flashing. I hope that there may only be green lights and not the red light of disobedience and the yellow light of doubt.

Prayer Title

Pray for a blessed day where you take off your shoes and by putting on the new shoes of mandate that God gives to us, put on the shoes of the Word and abide with Him.
