일한대로 갚아 주시는 하나님
히11:6

생명의 말씀

“믿음이 없이는 기쁘시게 못하나니 하나님께 나아가는 자는 반드시 그가 계신 것과 또한 그가 자기를 찾는 자들에게 상 주시는 이심을 믿어야 할지니라”

하나님께 나아가고자 할 때 “하나님은 우리에게 상주시는 이시며, 우리가 행한대로 갚아 주시는 분”이라는 사실을 믿어야 합니다. 하나님께서 우리에게 주시는 상은 우리가 행한대로, 일한대로 갚아주시되 후히 주시는 분입니다. 전도를 위해, 주의 몸된 교회를 위해 기쁜 마음으로 시간과 물질과 정성을 바칠 때 하나님께선 그 이상으로 갚아주십니다.

‘일한대로’라는 말의 원어적인 뜻은 ‘수고한대로’, ‘심은대로’라는 뜻입니다. 즉 전도를 위해서 마음으로 고생하고 손으로 발로 일하며, 물질을 허비한 것을 가리키는 것을 말합니다. 그러므로 자녀들이 잘 되기를 바라고 형통을 원한다면 무엇보다도 하나님의 첫째 소원인 전도에 전념할 때 하나님께서 나의 모든 삶을 책임져 주시는 것입니다. ‘갚아주리라’는 말은 ‘되돌려주리라, 도로 찾아주리라’는 뜻입니다. 심은대로 거두고 되돌려 받기에 결코 손해보는 것이 없습니다. 하나님의 상급은 이처럼 일한대로 갚아주고 행한대로 주시는 것입니다.

육신을 위해서 심는 것은 그리스도 밖에 있는 것입니다. 하나님을 믿지 않는 사람들은 한 평생 자기 중심의 삶을 위해 소망없이 수고하는 것입니다. 자식을 위해, 자신의 노후를 위해 아무리 많은 재물을 쌓아둔다 할지라도 하나님을 의지하지 않고 하나님께 맡기지 않는다면 다 부질없는 것이기 때문입니다. 그러므로 우리의 주식은 신앙, 즉 예배가 돼야 합니다. 육신에 있는 것은 다 부식입니다. 육신을 위해 아무리 동분서주 한다 할지라도 육신의 마침은 멸망이요 저희의 신은 배요 그 영광은 저희의 부끄러움에 있다고 빌3:19절에 분명히 말씀하고 있습니다.

그러므로 이제는 육신의 일을 더 이상 도모하지 말고 성령의 감동감화와 능력을 힘입어 영혼을 구원하는 추수에 말씀의 낫을 가지고 동참하는 성도가 돼야겠습니다. 육신의 씨를 뿌리는 파종이 아니라 말씀의 씨를 뿌리는 신령한 파종입니다.

<기도제목>

하나님을 위해 행하는 수고는 결코 헛된 것이 없습니다. 일한대로, 행한 대로 갚아 주시는 하나님을 위해 오늘 하루도 헌신과 충성으로 보답해 드리기를 위해 기도하십시오.

God Who Rewards Us According to Our Work
Hebrews 11:6

The Word of Life

“And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him”

When we try and go forth to God, we must believe the fact that “God is the one who rewards us according to our actions and deeds”. When we devote our money and time with a joyful heart to the church which is the body of Christ He will reward us beyond our efforts.

‘According to our deeds’ in the original text means ‘according to our toil’, and ‘according to what we sow’. Thus, it refers to the act of toiling physically and emotionally for evangelism, and spending our money. Therefore, if you want prosperity and all things to go well for your children, you must first focus on evangelism which is God’s first wish, and then God will take responsibility for everything else. ‘To repay’ means to ‘give back’, or ‘to find again’. There is no loss as we reap what we sow and receive repayments. As such, the prize that God gives us is that God repays us according to our deeds.

Only Jesus Christ can be sown for the flesh. People who don’t believe in God toil their entire lives centered upon themselves without any hope. Even if we stock up an abundance of wealth for ourselves and our children, if we don’t entrust in God then everything is in vain. Hence, our main supply of food must be our spiritual lives, thus worship. All things that belong to our flesh isn’t a main source of food. Even if we busy ourselves for our flesh the end of these efforts will be the end of our physical bodies and in their glory in their shame (Phil 3:19).

Thus, we must no longer plan the works of the flesh but rather become clothed in the inspiration and power of the Holy Spirit so that we can become saints that are prepared with the sickle and take part in the reaping of the salvation of souls.

Prayer Title

There is no effort that ends in vain if it is for God. Pray that today with devotion and toil you can repay God who rewards us according to our actions.
