빌4:6-7
생명의 말씀
“아무 것도 염려하지 말고 오직 모든 일에 기도와 간구로, 너희 구할 것을 감사함으로 하나님께 아뢰라 그리하면 모든 지각에 뛰어난 하나님의 평강이 그리스도 예수 안에서 너희 마음과 생각을 지키시리라”
‘희망의 사람’은 자신의 삶 속에 찾아온 불청객, ‘염려’를 추방시키는 사람입니다. 아브라함의 가정에도 염려가 있었습니다. 두 부부가 둘 다 자녀를 가질 수 없을 정도로 늙어갔기 때문에 자손에 대한 약속을 주신 하나님의 말씀마저도 의심이 들 정도였습니다. 그러나 이들은 ‘바랄 수 없는 중에 바라고 믿음으로’(롬4:18) 의심과 염려까지 추방시킬 수 있었습니다. 그들의 마음 속에 찾아든 염려나 의심보다 하나님께서 말씀하신 약속이 아브라함에게는 희망이 되었던 것입니다. 이처럼 ‘호모 에스페란스’, 희망의 사람은 소망 가운데 염려를 추방시킨 사람입니다.
우리의 삶 속에서 염려를 추방시킬 수 있는 힘은 매일 매일의 기도에서 나옵니다. 매일 매일의 기도는 희망을 가지고 하루하루를 살아가게 해주는 원동력이며 보이지 않는 영원한 소망을 붙잡게 해줍니다(고후4:18). 기도 외에 다른 것으로는 귀신을 쫓아내고 염려와 근심을 물리치는 능력이 나갈 수가 없습니다(막9:28-29). 그러므로 아무리 힘들고 어려운 문제가 있다 할지라도 하나님께서 들으시고 응답해 주실 것이라는 믿음으로 기도할 때 반드시 그 기도가 상달되게 됩니다. 계5:8에 보면 천사들이 성도들의 기도를 금 향로에 담아 하늘의 하나님께 가지고 올라갑니다. 기도가 상달될 때 우리가 상상할 수 없는 하나님의 놀라운 기적이 모든 염려를 물리쳐 줍니다.
또한 우리가 믿는 하나님이 어떠한 분이신지 깨닫게 될 때 희망이 사람이 될 수 있습니다. 하나님은 나의 삶을 섭리하시고 주관하시는 분입니다. 한마디로 나의 모든 것을 책임져 주시는 분입니다. 당신의 아들을 보내어 십자가에서 인류의 모든 죄를 사하시고 내 속에서 새로운 생명을 허락해 주신 분입니다. 그러므로 이제 “내 안에서 그리스도께서 사신 것”(갈2:20)이므로 우리는 희망의 삶, 호모 에스페란스로서의 삶을 살 수 있습니다.

날마다의 기도, 하나님에 대한 온전한 지식이 모든 염려를 물리칠 수 있는 원동력임을 깨닫고, 오늘도 쉬지 않는 기도로 하루 일과를 시작하시기 바랍니다.

Philippians 4:6-7
The Word of Life
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
‘A person of hope’ is a person who eliminates ‘anxiousness’ that finds its way into his/her life. Even Abraham’s family had worries. Both Abraham and Sarah were well passed child bearing age and were doubtful of God’s promise to them that He’d give them a son. However, they ‘hoped even during circumstances that did not permit them to hope and with faith’ (Rom 4:18) they were able to eliminate their feelings of doubt and anxiousness. The promise that God had given to them had become a hope to Abraham rather than the feelings o doubt and worries they had within their hearts. As such, ‘homo Esperans’, the person of hope is a person who has eliminated anxiousness within hope.
The strength that enables us to eliminate all of our anxieties arises from our daily prayers. Our daily prayers are the driving force in enabling us to live each day with hope and helps us to hold onto the eternal hope although it isn’t visible to us (2 Cor 4:18). Therefore, no matter how difficult our problems or circumstances may be, when we pray with faith that God will listen and answer our prayers God will receive our prayer. In Revelation 5:8, it tells us how the angels place the prayers of saints in golden bowls full of incense and carry it up to heaven. When our prayers are received the amazing miracle of God will wipe out all of our anxieties.
Furthermore, we can become people of hope who are able to understand who God is. God is the one who has providence and authority over our lives. In other words He is the one
who takes responsibilities over our lives. By sending His one and only son to die on the cross carrying the sins of all mankind He atoned all of our sins and allowed a new life within us. Thus we can now live a life of hope, Homo Esperans just as “the Lord lives within us” (Gal 2:20).
Prayer Title
May we realize that our daily prayers and complete knowledge of God is the driving force that is able to eliminate all our anxieties and begin our day with ever ceasing prayer.
