아론의 싹난 지팡이
민17:8

생명의 말씀

“이튿날 모세가 증거의 장막에 들어가 본즉 레위 집을 위하여 낸 아론의 지팡이에 움이 돋고 순이 나고 꽃이 피어서 살구 열매가 열렸더라”

250명의 고라 일당들은 하나님께서 세워주신 지도력에 불복함으로써 결국 하나님의 권위에 도전한 자들이었습니다. 그렇기 때문에 아론을 제외한 11지파의 지팡이는 마른 지팡이였지만 아론의 지팡이만큼은 생명의 지팡이가 되었던 것입니다. 그러므로 이 지팡이는 우리의 생명 되시는 예수 그리스도를 상징하는 것입니다.

하나님께서는 아론의 지팡이에만 싹이 나게 함으로써 불신과 원망의 씨앗을 근원적으로 해결해 주셨습니다. 그 결과 백성들이 완전히 모세와 아론을 신뢰하고 하나님의 권위에 굴복하게 된 것입니다. “하나님께서 인정하시고 역사하시는 지팡이는 싹이 난다”는 사실을 깨닫게 된 것입니다. 이처럼 아론의 마른 나무지팡이는 교만과 시기, 질투, 원망과 불신의 지팡이가 사라지고 생명의 지팡이만이 영원히 남아 소리치고 있음을 일깨워주고 있습니다.

이 내용을 볼 때 바로 각자 나 자신이 마른 막대기와 같다는 것을 깨닫게 됩니다. 그러나 마른 나무 지팡이같은 존재라 할지라도 예수를 믿음으로 싹이 나고 움이 돋고 순이 나고 꽃이 피어 살구 열매가 열리는 존재로 변화될 수 있습니다. 순이 나고 꽃이 피는 것은 ‘깨어있다’는 뜻입니다. 생명 없는 마른 나무에 열매가 맺혀 ‘소생’하였습니다.

움은 오늘이 아니라 내일입니다. 아침입니다. 성장을 의미합니다. 꽃을 향해 전진합니다. 미래의 열매를 내다보는 웃음입니다. 이 움은 썩은 고목과 같은 내 속에서 새로운 예수 그리스도의 생명이 시작되는 것을 뜻합니다. 또한 순은 식물의 싹입니다. 그곳에서 줄기와 가지와 잎과 꽃과 열매가 생기게 됩니다. 순은 씨가 땅에 떨어져 죽을 때 나타나는 열매이기에 부활의 상징과도 같습니다. 그래서 예수님은 자신을 ‘연한 순’으로 말씀하셨습니다(사53:2). 순은 연약한 존재이지만 생명적인 요동이 멈추질 않는 존재입니다. 순은 땅 속에 있을지라도 단단한 땅을 뚫고 빛을 향해 자라가는 불가항력적인 요동이 있습니다.

<기도제목>

움이 돋고 싹이 난다는 것은 생명과 부활에 대한 상징입니다. 아론의 마른 나무 지팡이에 이러한 기적의 역사가 일어났던 것처럼 우리의 생활 속에서도 생명의 역사가 움터올 수 있도록 기도하십시오.

The Word of Life

"Now on the next day Moses went into the tent of the testimony; and behold, the rod of Aaron for the house of Levi had sprouted and put forth buds and produced blossoms, and it bore ripe almonds."

Korah and 250 leaders rebelled against God’s chosen leaders and ultimately against His authority. From this incident, God made Aaron’s dry rod sprout and put forth buds among the 12 rods. Aaron’s rod represents our living Lord, Jesus Christ.

God resolved the question of His chosen leaders by having the dry rod sprout and bud. After this, the people acknowledged Moses and Aaron’s positions and submitted to God’s authority. God said, “It will come about that the rod of the man whom I choose will sprout”. Aaron’s rod abolished rods of pride, jealousy, envy, grumbling, and disobedience and showed that only God’s eternal rod will remain.

There are many times in lives when we are dry like the rods. However, by faith in Christ, God will make our dry rods to sprout and put forth buds, producing blossoms, and bearing ripe almonds. When the rod sprouts and buds, we are alert and awake. Trees without life will be made alive to bear fruits.

Sprouting is today and not tomorrow. It is the morning. It describes developing and leads to budding. There is hope in the future with blossoms. Sprouting represents Jesus changing our fruitless state to be made alive. Budding is the beginning of blossoming and leads to vines, branches, leaves, flowers, and fruits. Blossoming represents resurrection where the seeds will drop to the ground and bear fruits. Jesus described Himself as a tender shoot (Isaiah 53:2). The shoot may be weak but contains life. While the shoot is buried under the ground, it will make its way out of the hardened ground toward the sun.

"Prayer Request"

Aaron’ rod sprouted and budded, representing life and resurrection. As God gave life to Aaron’s dry rod, let us pray God will bless us with His living works.
