‘오늘’을 준비하라
약4:13-14

생명의 말씀

“들으라 너희 중에 말하기를 오늘이나 내일이나 우리가 아무 도시에 가서 거기서 일년을 유하며 장사하여 이를 보리라 하는 자들아 내일 일을 너희가 알지 못하는도다 너희 생명이 무엇이뇨 너희는 잠간 보이다가 없어지는 안개니라”

성경은 ‘오늘 하루 동안 무슨 일이 있을지 너희가 알지 못한다’고 말씀하고 있습니다. 그러므로 참된 믿음의 성도는 날마다 깨어서 ‘오늘’을 준비하는 사람이어야 합니다. 예수님은 언제나 ‘오늘’이셨습니다. 오늘은 ‘새 것’을 말합니다. 하나님을 만나는 소중한 시간입니다. 살아계신 태초의 말씀을 만나는 시간, 그것이 바로 ‘오늘’의 의미가 아니겠습니까?

예수님께서 이 땅에 오신 것은 ‘영원한 생명’을 잃어버린 인류에게 영원한 생명을 주시기 위해서였습니다. 그런데 이 영원한 생명은 내일이나 모레, 차차 주어지는 것이 아닙니다. 예수 그리스도를 믿는 순간, 지금 당장 나에게 주어지는 것입니다. 그러므로 ‘오늘’이란 구원의 날이고, 은혜받을 때입니다(고후6:2). 이 날의 의미는 첫째, 인생이 자신을 돌보며 불쌍히 여길 때라는 것입니다. 남 얘기할 것 없이 인생의 자취를 보며 불쌍히 여길 때 비로소 철든 사람이 됩니다. 그 때 비로소 하나님을 찾게 됩니다.

둘째는, 하나님은 내일보다 오늘, 내가 진정으로 당신께 돌아오길 바라고 계십니다. 따라서 오늘 이 시간 하나님의 소리를 내 가슴 속 깊이 모셔야 합니다.

셋째는, 아름다운 종말을 위해서 기도해야 됩니다. 인생은 자신의 종말이 있다는 것을 모르고 지냅니다. 그러나 하나님께 기도하게 되면 죽지 않고 살아서 변화하는 변화의 세계를 깨닫게 됩니다. 마치 믿음으로 죽음을 보지 않았던 에녹처럼 바늘 끄트머리도 놓일 틈이 없는 완벽한 신앙인이 될 수 있는 것입니다. 재물이나 사람 생명이나 다 하나님의 능하신 손 안에 있습니다. 그렇기 때문에 하나님께서 인생에게 주신 현안 중 가장 중요한 것은 ‘내세’의 문제입니다. 내가 하나님 앞에서 어떻게 살고, 어떻게 나의 다가올 종말을 준비하였는가 하는 것입니다. 이를 깨닫는 사람들은 주어진 시간 동안에 최선의 삶을 살아가는 사람들입니다. 하나님께서 기뻐하시는 믿음의 열매, 선한 열매를 많이 거두는 삶입니다.

<기도제목>

내일 당장 어떠한 일이 일어날지 사람들은 알지 못합니다. 그러므로 나에게 지금 주어진 ‘오늘’의 시간을 충실하게 살아가는 것이 지혜있는 자의 모습임을 깨닫고, 오늘을 충실히 살아갈 수 있도록 기도하십시오.

The Word of Life

"Come now, you who say, "Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, and spend a year there and engage in business and make a profit." Yet you do not know what your life will be like tomorrow. You are just a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away."

Bible tells us that we do not know what will happen today. True believers should be alert and prepare for what will happen today. Jesus was always today. Today represents new things. It is the precious time where you are able to meet God; meeting the word from the beginning of time.

Jesus came to this earth to grant eternal life to people who lost it. However, He is not giving it to us tomorrow or day after tomorrow, but as soon as you believe in Him, He will grant you the eternal life. Today represents the day of salvation and grace (2 Corinthians 6:2). What does today include?

First, it is when people look back and see how pitiful their life is. Those who recognize their lack in their life are mature. Then you are able to seek after God.

Second, God wants us to return to Him today and not tomorrow. Therefore, today we need to listen to God’s voice and follow it.

Third, we need to pray for the wonderful end of times. Many people live not knowing there will be an end of times. When you pray, you will understand the last times and transfigure to enter heaven. As God took Enoch who did not see death, we can have perfect faith too. All our possessions and life are in the hands of God. The most

important that God has given us is our future. How we live our lives and are prepared for the end times are very important. Those with an attitude to prepare for the end times will live their lives according to God’s words to bear good fruits of faith that are pleasing to God.

"Prayer Request"

We do not know what will happen tomorrow. We can become wise when we live a life that is loyal to God during the time of today. Let us pray that we can live a life of loyalty.
