아멘의 실체
고후1:18-20

생명의 말씀

“하나님은 미쁘시니라 우리가 너희에게 한 말은 예 하고 아니라 함이 없노라 우리 곧 나와 실루아노와 디모데로 말미암아 너희 가운데 전파된 하나님의 아들 예수 그리스도는 예 하고 아니라 함이 되지 아니하였으니 저에게는 예만 되었느니라 하나님의 약속은 얼마든지 그리스도 안에서 예가 되니 그런즉 그로 말미암아 우리가 아멘 하여 하나님께 영광을 돌리게 되느니라』”

우리 속담에 ‘믿는 도끼에 발등 찍힌다’는 말이 있습니다. 철석같이 믿던 사람도 자기 이익을 위해서는 친구나 형제라도 배신하고 심지어 죽이는 것이 세상입니다. 하지만 하나님을 두렵게 믿고 예수를 마음 속에 모신 사람들은 절대 그런 일을 하지 않습니다. 왜냐하면 하나님은 ‘아멘’의 하나님이시기 때문입니다. 그렇다면 아멘의 삶의 실체는 무엇입니까?

첫째, 하나님의 약속이 아멘입니다. 이 말은 하나님의 약속은 언제나 믿는 자들의 속에서 ‘예’로 화답하여 이루어진다는 뜻입니다(고후1:20). 없는 자를 있게 하시고 있는 것을 없게 하시는 분이 하나님이시기에 그분의 약속을 믿는 자에게는 부요의 축복이 주어집니다. 우리에게 ‘재물 얻을 능’(신8:18)을 주셨습니다. 이처럼 아멘이신 하나님을 의지하지 않으면 우리가 많은 것을 바라도 도리어 적게 되고 씨를 뿌려 거둔 밭의 소산을 집으로 가져갈지라도 하나님께서 불어버리십니다(학1:9). 그러므로 아멘의 하나님께서 우리의 삶을 인도하고 우리의 발걸음과 마음을 오직 주께서 인도하셔야 합니다. 그것이 바로 아멘의 삶입니다.

둘째, 예수 자신이 아멘입니다. 사도바울의 증거에 의하면 하나님의 아들 예수 그리스도는 ‘예 하고 아니라 함이 되지 아니하였으니 저에게는 예만 되었느니라’(고후1:19)라고 하였습니다. 즉 예수님의 삶은 하나님의 명령에 거역함이 없이 오직 ‘예’, 즉 ‘아멘’으로 순종하는 삶이었던 것입니다. 그는 육체에 계실 때에 자기를 죽음에서 구원하실 이에게 심한 통곡과 눈물로 간구와 소원을 올려 들으심을 얻었습니다(히5:7). 그는 하나님 아버지의 뜻을 이루기 위해 순종으로 행하였습니다(요6:38-39). 심지어 인류의 죄를 위해 십자가를 짊어지라 할 때도 ‘아멘’으로 순종하심으로서 자기를 믿는 모든 자에게 영원한 구원의 근원이 되셨습니다(히5:8).

이처럼 아멘 자체이신 예수님은 찬송과 영광과 지혜와 감사와 존귀와 능력의 대상이 되셨습니다(계5:11-14, 7:12).

아멘의 실체는 한번 약속하신 것은 반드시 이루시는 것이며, 하나님의 말씀에 언제나 ‘예’로 화답하는 것입니다. 오늘도 이러한 아멘의 삶을 살도록 기도하십시오.

But as surely as God is faithful, our message to you is not “Yes” and “No.” FortheSonofGod,JesusChrist,whowaspreachedamongyoubyus—by me and Silas and Timothy—was not “Yes” and “No,” but in him it has always been “Yes.” For no matter how many promises God has made, they are“ Yes” in Christ. And so through him the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory of God.

There is a Korean saying ‘trust makes way for deceit’. We live in a world where people betray their friends and family and in extreme cases even kill them for their benefit. However, those who believe in God with a heart of fear and place Jesus in their hearts will never commit such deeds. This is because God is the God of ‘amen’. Then what is the truth about the life of amen?

First, the promise of God is amen. This means that God’s promises are always fulfilled within the believers with the response ‘yes’ (2 Cor 1:20). God is the one who make people and things that don’t exist, exist thus the blessing of abundance will be given to those who believe in His promise. He has given us the ‘ability to gain wealth’ (Deut 8:18. As such, if we don’t rely on the God who is amen, then whatever we may desire, we will not reap in full and whatever we sow from what we reap God will blow away everything (Hag 1:9). Therefore, the God of amen must leads our lives and the Lord must lead our footsteps and heart. That is the truth about the life of amen.

Second, Jesus himself is amen. According to apostle Paul’s testimony ‘Jesus Christ who is the son of God who was preached among you by us—by me and Silas and Timothy—was not “Yes” and “No,” but in him it has always been “Yes”'(2Cor1:19). Thus the life of Jesus had no disobedience to God’s commands and was always a life of obedience; ‘yes’, or ‘amen’.

When he was in the flesh he offered up prayers and petitions with fervent cries and tears to the one who could save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverent submission (Heb 5:7). He acted with obedience to fulfill the will of God the Father (John 6:38-39). He even obeyed with ‘amen’ in carrying the cross for the sins of all mankind and became the origin of eternal salvation to all (Heb 5:8). As such, Jesus who is amen himself became the subject of praise, glory, wisdom, thanksgiving, preciousness, and authority (Rev 5:11-14, 7:12).

Prayer Title

The truth about amen is that once a promise is made it is certainly fulfilled and responds to the Word of God with a ‘yes’ at all times. Pray that today you may live such a life of amen.
