출3:4-5

생명의 말씀

“여호와께서 그가 보려고 돌이켜 오는 것을 보신지라 하나님이 떨기나무 가운데서 그를 불러 가라사대 모세야 모세야 하시매 그가 가로되 내가 여기 있나이다 하나님이 가라사대 이리로 가까이 하지 말라 너의 선 곳은 거룩한 땅이니 네 발에서 신을 벗으라”

광야의 아버지로, 이스라엘 민족의 지도자로 헌신했던 모세는 120년의 삶이 크게 세 단계로 구분됩니다. 처음 40년은 바로의 궁에서 왕자로 교육받고 자란 시기, 두 번째 시기는 미디안 광야에서 장인의 양을 치는 목자로서 40년을 보냈습니다. 마지막 세 번째 시기의 40년은 이스라엘 백성들을 이끌고 광야 40년 여정을 인도하는 지도자로 보냈습니다.

모세는 또한 그의 아버지가 고모(“그 아비의 누이”, 출6:20)를 아내로 취하여 낳은 아들입니다. 근친 결혼을 통해 낳은 아이였지만, 모세는 태어날 때부터 용모가 ‘준수하여’(출2:2) 그 부모들이 바로의 명을 어기고 세달 동안 숨겨서 길렀습니다. 공동번역에는 “용모가 아주 잘 생긴 아이”로 번역했습니다. 이는 요셉에 대해서 “요셉이 용모가 준수하고 아담하였더라”(창39:6) 한 것처럼, 하나님 보시기에 아름다운 아이였던 것입니다(행7:20). 이처럼 모세는 태어날 때부터 비범한 용모와 하나님 보시기에 아름다운 면을 가졌던 아이였습니다. 나아가 바로의 궁중교육과 목동으로서 밑바닥 인생을 다 배운 후 드디어 하나님의 부르심을 입었습니다. 그리고 모세에게 말하기를 “네 발에서 신을 벗으라!” 명령했습니다. 이는 그간 모세가 살아오면서 지은 모든 죄악의 신을 벗고, 신령한 하나님의 종으로서 헌신하고 충성하는 삶을 살라는 명령입니다. 종은 자기 생각이나 마음대로 움직이는 자가 아닙니다. 이제 하나님의 종으로 내 생각, 내 자유 의지와 뜻을 다 버리고 오직 하나님의 생각과 뜻을 흡수해서 ‘나’를 버리고 하나님을 위해 살아가는 삶에 대한 준엄한 명령이었던 것입니다.

나의 신발을 벗고 하나님께서 주시는 새 신을 신을 때 새 사람으로 거듭날 수 있습니다. 하나님으로부터 부름받기 전, 모세는 이처럼 먼저 자신의 신발을 벗고 하나님 앞에 새 사람으로 거듭나는 과정을 겪었던 것입니다.

<기도제목>

하나님 앞에 선 모세처럼, 지금까지 살아온 나의 모든 죄악의 신발을 벗고, 하나님께서 주시는 새로운 사명의 신으로 덧입는 하루가 되기를 위해 기도하십시오.

The Word of Life

When the Lord saw that he had gone over to look, God called to him from within the bush, “Moses! Moses!”And Moses said, “Here I am.” “Do not come any closer,” God said. “Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy ground.”

As the father of the wilderness and the leader of the Israelites, Moses 120year life can be separated into three parts. First is the 40 years he spent being educated in the pharaoh’s palace as a prince, the second part is the 40 years he spent in the wilderness of Midian as a shepherd to his father in laws sheep. The final third part he spent as the leader of the Israelites leading the Israelites for 40 years throughout their wilderness journey.

Furthermore, Moses was the son of his father and his aunt (“his father’s sister”, Exo 6:20). He was a child born as a result of an incestuous marriage, but from birth it in the joint translation Korean Bible it is translated that, Moses was a ‘fine child’ (Exo 2:2) and his parents ignored the pharaoh’s command and raised him in hiding for three months. In the joint Korean translation Bible it is translated as “a very handsome child”. This means that just as Joseph was “well built and handsome” (Gen 39:6),in God’s eyes he was a beautiful child (Acts 7:20).

Likewise, from birth Moses was remarkable in appearance and had an aspect that was pleasing in God’s eyes. In addition, he received God’s calling after he’d been educated in pharaoh’s palace and had experienced the lowest point of his life as a shepherd. When God called Moses He told him to take his shoes off. A slave isn’t a person who acts according to his/her will or thought. This was a commandment regarding Moses’ life; as a servant of God dispose of his thoughts, freedom, will and thoughts and only take on the thoughts and will of God and get rid of ‘myself’ completely and live for God alone.

When we take off our shoes and put on the new shoes that God gives us, we can be reborn as new people. Before God called him, Moses had to undergo the process of becoming renewed and born into a new person by first taking off his shoes.

Prayer Title

Pray that we may be able to be like Moses, take off the shoes of all of our sins from our past lives and put on the shoes of the new task that God gives us.
