오직 믿음으로 살리라!
롬1:16-17

생명의 말씀

“내가 복음을 부끄러워하지 아니하노니 이 복음은 모든 믿는 자에게 구원을 주시는 하나님의 능력이 됨이라 첫째는 유대인에게요 또한 헬라인에게로다 복음에는 하나님의 의가 나타나서 믿음으로 믿음에 이르게 하나니 기록된바 오직 의인은 믿음으로 말미암아 살리라 함과 같으니라”

“오직 의인은 믿음으로 말미암아 살리라”는 말씀의 의미는 “복음에 나타난 하나님의 의를 믿는 믿음”을 뜻합니다. 여기서 복음이란 한마디로 ‘좋은 소식’을 말합니다. 즉 예수께서 이 땅에 오셔서 인류의 모든 죄를 사하시고 영원한 천국의 세계, 의의 세계를 열어 주셨기 때문입니다.

따라서 복음의 실체는 바로 예수 그리스도 자신을 가리키기도 합니다. 그러므로 롬1:2-4절 말씀을 볼 때 복음이란 예수 그리스도 자신을 가리킵니다. 이 복음은 선지자들이 예언했고 그 예언대로 육신으로 다윗의 혈통에서 나시고 십자가에서 돌아가시고 성결의 영으로 사흘만에 부활하신 예수 그리스도야말로 복음의 참 실체인 것입니다. 그러면 이러한 복음은 어떻게 역사할까요?

첫째, 복음은 모든 믿는 자에게 주시는 하나님의 구원의 능력이 되므로, 복음 안에는 하나님의 의가 나타납니다. 하나님의 의란 사람의 모든 죄를 사하시고 구원하시는 행동으로, 하나님의 독생자 되신 예수 그리스도를 말합니다. 그래서 롬3:24절에서 “그리스도 예수 안에 있는 구속으로 말미암아 의롭다 하심을 얻은 자”라고 말씀하고 있습니다.

둘째, 복음 안에서 우리는 ‘무죄선언’의 은총을 받았습니다. 이 하나님의 ‘무죄선언’은 롬3:25절에서 “하나님께서 길이 참으시는 중에 전에 지은 죄를 간과하심으로”란 말씀에 잘 나타나 있습니다. 여기서 ‘간과하다’는 말은 두 가지 의미가 있습니다. 먼저 예수님이 오시기 전에, 하나님께서 사람들의 죄를 참고 눈감아 주심으로 당신의 정의를 나타내심을 뜻합니다. 그러나 오늘날에는 예수님이 오셔서 죄를 물으심으로 당신의 정의를 나타내십니다. 그러므로 롬3:26절에서 “곧 이때에 자기의 의로우심을 나타내사 자기도 의로우시며 또한 예수 믿는 자를 의롭다 하려 하심이라”고 말씀하셨던 것입니다.

이와 같이 예수님은 바로 하나님의 의(義)이며, 비밀입니다. 그 분 속에 모든 지식과 부요와 축복이 다 들어 있는 것입니다.

여러분은 어떠한 힘에 의지하여 인생을 살아가고 있습니까? 여러분의 모든 과거의 죄에 대하여 무죄를 선언해 주시고, 모든 믿는 자에게 구원의 능력이 되시는 예수 그리스도를 붙잡고 그분의 은혜의 힘으로 살아가기를 위해 기도하십시오.

We Shall Only Live by Faith!
Romans 1:16-17

The Word of Life

For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile. For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed—a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith.”

“The righteous will live by faith” signifies “the faith of believing in the righteousness of God that is manifested in the gospel”. Here the gospel speaks of ‘good news’. Thus Jesus has come to this earth and atoned for all the sins of mankind and has opened up the eternal world of heaven and righteousness. As such, the truth of the gospel refers to Jesus Christ himself. Therefore in Romans 1:2-4 the gospel points to Jesus Christ himself. This gospel was prophesied by the prophets and just as it was prophesied, Christ who was born of the line of David, died on the cross and was resurrected in three days through the spirit of consecration is the true gospel. Then how does this gospel work?

First, the gospel is the power of salvation that is given to those who believe, and within the gospel is manifested the righteousness of God. The righteousness of God refers to the actions taken to atone the sins of all mankind and give them salvation, and speaks of Jesus Christ His one and only son. Thus in Romans 3:24, it is written ““and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus."

Second, within the gospel we have received the grace of being proclaimed as ‘sin-free’. God’s proclamation that we are ‘sin-free’ is well depicted in Romans 3:25 ““God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement, through the shedding of his blood—to be received by faith. He did this to demonstrate his righteousness, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished””. Here ‘overlooking’has two meanings.

First, it means that before Jesus came, God has overlooked the sins of mankind and left it unpunished hence by doing this He demonstrates His righteousness.

However, today when Jesus come and questions our sins, he demonstrates his righteousness. Therefore, in Romans 3:26 it is written, ““he did it to demonstrate his righteousness at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus.””

As such, Jesus is the secret of God’s righteousness. Within him is enclosed all wisdom, wealth and blessings.

Prayer Title

What sort of power do you rely on whilst living your life? Pray that you may be able to hold onto Jesus Christ who has declared us sin-free of all of our past sins and live through the power of hi grace.
