세 번의 기회를 놓치지 말라

창3:8-24

생명의 말씀

“그들이 날이 서늘할 때에 동산에 거니시는 여호와 하나님의 음성을 듣고 아담과 그 아내가 여호와 하나님의 낯을 피하여 동산 나무 사이에 숨은지라 여호와 하나님이 아담을 부르시며 그에게 이르시되 네가 어디 있느냐”

어른들의 말에 의하면 사람에겐 세 번의 기회가 반드시 있다고 하였습니다. 자기에게 주어진 세 번의 기회 중 어느 한번이라도 기회인줄 알고 붙잡으면 그 사람은 성공하게 된다는 것입니다. 성경에는 이와 유사한 내용이 나와 있습니다. 하나님께서 우리에게 세 번의 기회를 주셨기에 이를 놓치지 말라는 것이 그것입니다.

여러분들은 삶 가운데서 하나님께서 주신 기회를 놓치지 않고 붙잡았습니까? 아담과 하와는 하나님께서 주신 세 번의 기회를 다 놓치고 만 사람입니다. 첫 번째 기회는 “아담아 네가 어디 있느냐?”(창3:9)며 불러주신 것입니다. 하나님의 부르심의 목적은 아담에게 회개의 기회를 주시고자 함이었습니다. 그런데도 아담은 이 기회를 붙잡지 못했습니다. 두 번째는, “내가 너더러 먹지 말라 명한 그 나무 실과를 네가 먹었느냐?”(창3:11)는 말씀입니다. 이 또한 회개의 기회를 주시고자 함이었습니다. 그러나 아담은 그 책임을 아내에게 전가시켰습니다. 세 번째 기회는 하와에게 주어졌습니다(창3:13). 하와에 대한 하나님의 책망이 그것입니다. 그러나 하와도 마지막 기회를 놓치고 맙니다. 역시 뱀에게 그 책임을 전가시켰습니다. 그 결과는 무엇입니까? 하나님의 낙원에서의 추방입니다. 우리의 삶의 터전, 사명의 터전에서 쫓겨나는 것입니다.

하나님께서 주시는 회개의 기회를 붙잡아야만 우리의 죄가 사함 받습니다. 하나님께서 주시는 형통의 기회를 붙잡아야만 성공할 수 있습니다. 하나님께서는 우리의 삶을 통해서 필요한 때에 적절한 기회의 선물을

들고 오십니다. 그 선물은 때로는 매서운 회초리가 되기도 하고, 달콤한 초콜릿이 될 수도 있습니다. 중요한 것은 기회가 있을 때 붙잡아야 한다는 것입니다. “기회는 안방으로 들어와서 뒷문으로 나간다”는 말이 있습니다. 오늘도 여러분의 삶 속에 허락하시는 하나님의 기회를 붙잡으십시오.

오늘 하루, 하나님께서 누구를 통해, 어떠한 일을 통해 나에게 회개와 축복의 기회를 주시든지 깨어서 붙잡을 수 있도록 기도합시다.

Do not Miss the Three Opportunities

The Word of Life

“Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the LORD God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the LORD God among the trees of the garden. But the LORD God called to the man, Where are you?”

According to the words of our elders, each man is given three opportunities and when we grab hold of any one of these three opportunities when it comes to us that person will succeed. In the Bible there is a similar account that God had given us three opportunities and that we should not miss it.

Have you held onto the opportunities that God has given to you without loss? Adam and Eve were people who lost all three opportunities that were given to them by God. The first opportunity was when God called out to Adam “Where are you?” (Gen 3:9). The purpose of God’s calling was to give Adam an opportunity to repent however Adam missed this opportunity.

The second opportunity is in Genesis 3:11. God asks Adam “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree that I commanded you not to eat from?” in order to give him another chance to repent however we see Adam not taking responsibility for what has happened and instead blaming Eve. The third opportunity to repent was given to Eve in Genesis 3:13 when God rebuked Eve He was also giving her the chance to repent however Eve also lost the last chance that God had given her and instead of taking responsibility for her actions she blames the serpent. What was the outcome?

As a result they were banished from God’s paradise and we will be thrown out from the foundation of our livelihood and mandates. Our sins can only be washed away when we hold onto the opportunity for repentance that God gives us and we can only succeed when we grab a hold of the chance of prosperity that He gives us. Through our lives God brings us appropriate gifts during our time of need. At times that gift can be like a fierce whip or sweet chocolate however, the important thing is that we need to grab that opportunity when it comes our way. There is a Korean saying that “opportunity comes into the main room of the house and leaves through the back door”. Today, may you hold onto the opportunity of God that He has allowed.

Prayer title

Today pray that you are awake in prayer so that if God gives us the chance to repent and receive blessings through people or a particular event, you’ll be able to grab that opportunity.
