직분의 생명력은 오직 충성 1
고전4:1-2

생명의 말씀

“사람이 마땅히 우리를 그리스도의 일군이요 하나님의 비밀을 맡은 자로 여길지어다 그리고 맡은 자들에게 구할 것은 충성이니라”

‘직분’이란 ‘직무상의 본문’, 또는 ‘마땅히 해야 할 본분’을 말합니다. 따라서 직분이란 어떤 계급이나 권세가 아니라 당연히 해야 할 사명, 일을 뜻합니다. 사도바울은 자신에게 주신 사도직을 감사하며 ‘새 언약의 일꾼’이라 표현하고 있습니다. 그렇다면 우리에게 맡겨주신 직분은 어떠한 의미가 있는 것인지 함께 살펴보도록 하겠습니다.

첫째, 우리는 하나님 나라, 즉 교회의 직분을 맡고 있습니다. 교회의 머리는 그리스도입니다(골1:8). 그러므로 우리에게 맡겨주신 직분은 그리스도께서 교회를 통해 일하라고 맡겨주신 것입니다. ‘일꾼’은 옛날 로마 시대 때 배에서 노를 젓는 노예를 가리키는 단어입니다. 배 밑창에서 노를 젓는 노예는 자기의 의지가 아니라 선장의 명령에 따라 움직이는 존재입니다. 마찬가지로 우리는 그리스도의 일꾼으로서 예수의 명령, 즉 말씀을 따라 노를 젓는 노예입니다. 가라면 가고 서라면 서는, 동서남북 지시한 곳을 향해서 죽음의 자리까지라도 명령에 따라 가는 것이 직분을 맡은 종의 자세인 것입니다.

둘째, 우리는 하나님의 비밀을 맡은 자입니다. 그리스도의 종이지만 동시에 우리는 하나님의 비밀을 맡은 축복된 직분자입니다. 성경의 최대의 비밀은 ‘그리스도’ 자신입니다(골1:27). 그 비밀이신 그리스도께서 내 안에 계십니다. 장차 영광의 소망이 될 비밀입니다. 이 비밀은 숨겨질 때가 있으면 밝히 드러날 때가 있습니다. 비밀이 소리칠 때가 있습니다. 그 비밀을 맡아 그리스도 안에서 택함받은 사람에게 증거할 사명을 맡겨주셨습니다.

셋째, 교회 직분의 생명력은 예수님께 충성하는 것입니다. 직분자에게 ‘충성’이 빠지면 시체나 마찬가지입니다. 영의 직분, 의의 직분, 생명의 직분, 살리는 직분, 소망의 직분을 우리에게 주셨습니다. 이처럼 놀라운 축복의 직분을 맡은 자는 충성으로 그 직분을 감당해야 합니다. 충성하되 끝까지 충성, 죽기까지 충성, 작은 일에 충성해야 합니다(눅16:10). 작은 일이라고 무시하지 않고 변함없이 충성하는 자가 진실된 주님의 일꾼인 것입니다.

교회에서 직분은 맡은 자는 생명을 바쳐 충성을 다해야 합니다. 나에게 어떠한 직분을 주셨든지 생명 다해 주님께 충성함으로 하나님께 기쁨을 돌려드릴 수 있도록 기도하십시오.

The Life Force of Our Duty is Only Loyalty 1
1 Corinthians 4:1-2

The Word of Life

“This, then, is how you ought to regard us: as servants of Christ and as those entrusted with the mysteries God has revealed. Now it is required that those who have been given a trust must prove faithful.”

A ‘duty’ speaks of ‘an occupational duty’ or ‘a job that should be done’. Accordingly, a duty refers to mandate task that must be upheld rather than one’s hierarchical position or power. The apostle Paul was thankful for his duty as an apostle and expressed himself as ‘the worker of the new covenant’. Let us examine what significance the duty God has assigned for us has.

First, we have been assigned a position of in the kingdom of God, hence a duty within the church. The head of the church is Jesus Christ (Col 1:8). Therefore, the duty that has been assigned to us has been given to us by Christ so that we can work through the church. The word ‘worker’ was used to refer to the slaves who rowed the boats during the Roman era. The slave who rowed from under the boat moved according to the captain’s command and not his own will. If the captain says go, he needs to go and if he says stop he must stop. As such the slave’s job is to go everywhere according to command even to the place of death.

Second, we are people who are keeping the secret of God. We are the servants of Christ but at the same time we are blessed workers who are keeping God’s secret. The greatest secret of the Bible is ‘Christ’ Himself (1 Col 1:27). Christ who is the secret remains within our heart. It is a secret that will become the hope of glory. Just as this secret has a time to be hidden there will come a time that it will be brightly revealed. There will come a time when this secret will scream out. God has assigned us with the task of proclaiming to those people who have been chosen within Christ to keep that secret.

Third, the life force of the duty of the church is in being loyal to Jesus. If ‘loyalty’ is missing from the worker, then he/she is like a corpse. He has given us the duty of the spirit, righteousness, life, resurrection and hope. As such those who have been given this amazing blessing must uphold that task with obedience. We must be loyal and obey until the end, until death, even in the most small tasks (Luke 16:10). The one who does not disregard even the smallest tasks and obey without changing is the true worker of Christ.

Prayer Title

Those who have been assigned tasks in the Church must dedicate their lives and loyalty. Whatever task He has given to us pray that we can be loyal to the Lord and delight our God.
