생명의 말씀

“너희는 자기를 위하여 또는 온 양 떼를 위하여 삼가라 성령이 저들 가운데 너희로 감독자를 삼고 하나님이 자기 피로 사신 교회를 치게 하셨느니라”

예수 그리스도의 십자가는 하나님의 사랑이 이 세상에서 무한한 고통과 희생을 지불했다는 표시입니다. 예수님의 눈물겨운 고난과 희생은 어떠한 모습으로 나타났을까요?

첫째, 행동의 자유가 억압당한데서 나타났습니다. 예수 그리스도께서는 법의 창조자요 공포자요 실행자였습니다. 그러나 예수님은 빌라도 앞에서 오히려 잡히시고 묶이시고 심문을 당하시고 수없이 매를 맞았습니다. 즉 예수님은 우리의 행동의 자유를 위하여 하나님의 사랑의 자유가 묶이는 괴로움을 당했으니 이것은 분명 희생이 아니겠습니까? 그분이 곤욕과 심문을 당하고 끌려간 결과(사53:8) 우리의 눈은 보는 자유가 생겼고, 우리의 귀는 듣는 자유를 얻었으며 우리의 손과 발은 자유하는 왕자가 되었습니다.

둘째, 언론의 자유가 구속당했습니다. 예수님은 구속을 당하고 정죄를 받아 말할 자유를 잃었습니다. “그가 곤욕을 당하여 괴로울 때에도 그 입을 열지 아니하였으며 마치 도살장으로 끌려가는 어린 양과 털깎는 자 앞에 잠잠한 양같이 그 입을 열지 아니하였도다”(사53:7). 영원한 말씀 자체이신 예수님께서 정죄를 받아 빌라도의 심문석 앞에서 말할 자유를 잃었습니다. 예수님이 입을 열 때 매를 맞았습니다. 그것은 그분의 무한한 희생이 아니겠습니까?

셋째, 사고의 자유를 빼앗겼습니다. 예수님은 생각할 자유마저, 논리적으로 사고할 자유마저 빼앗겼습니다. 세상의 죄수들은 언론과 행동의 자유를 빼앗겨도 사색의 자유만은 분명히 있습니다. 그러나 예수님은 이 사고의 자유마저 방해를 당했습니다. 하나님의 공의는 오직 지옥의 절망과 흑암으로 예수를 이끌어 갔으며 겟세마네 동산에서 그의 아들의 피땀을 빼앗아갔습니다. 그리고 그 아들의 자유한 뜻마저도 빼앗아갔습니다. 그래서 주님은 “내 뜻대로 마옵시고 아버지의 뜻대로 하옵소서”(마26:39)라고 고백했습니다. 그는 우주에서 고립되고 버림을 당했습니다. 하나님에게까지 버림을 당했던 것입니다. 이처럼 십자가의 표시는 예수 그리스도의 모든 영광, 존귀, 권세를 다 빼앗긴 자기 희생의 표요 흔적입니다.

행동과 언론과 사고의 자유마저 박탈당한 고통 가운데서 당신의 피로 값주고 사신 것이 바로 우리가 섬기는 교회입니다. 이 교회의 부흥과 선교사명 감당을 위해 기도하십시오.

The Word of Life

Keep watch over yourselves and all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers. Be shepherds of the church of God, which he bought with his own blood.

The cross of Jesus Christ is a sign that God’s love for this world has paid a limitless amount of pain and sacrifice. In what ways were the sufferings of Jesus manifested?

First, it appeared through the oppression of the freedom of action. Jesus Christ was the creator, promulgator, and consummator of law but rather he was captured, chained, questioned and beaten countless times. Hence, the sufferings that Jesus went through for our freedom of action caused God’s freedom of love to be bound and endure sufferings. Isn’t this true sacrifice? After he was afflicted, questioned and taken away (Isa 53:8) we were given the freedom to see with our eyes, hear with our ears and our hands and feet became free to walk.

Second, the freedom of speech was persecuted. Jesus was persecuted, condemned and lost the freedom to speak. “°He was oppressed and afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth; he was led like a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before its shearers is silent, so he did not open his mouth” (Isa 53:7). Jesus who was the eternal Word itself was condemned by Pilate and lost the freedom to speak. Each time Jesus opened his mouth to speak he was beaten. Wasn’t that his limitless sacrifice?

Third, he lost the freedom of thought. Jesus lost the freedom to think logically. Even the sinners of this world lose the freedom of speech and actions but they definitely have the freedom to think. However, Jesus was void of such freedom. The righteousness of God led Jesus to the despair and darkness of hell and took His son’s sweat and blood in the garden of Gethsemane. Therefore Jesus confessed “°My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will”±(Matt 26:39).

Likewise, the sign of the cross is the symbol and evidence of all the glory, honor and power that was taken away from Jesus Christ.

Prayer Title

The church that we serve is what he bought with his own blood being void of freedom of action, speech and thought. Pray for the revival of this church and for upholding the task of missionary.
