그 중에 사랑이 제일이라

고전13:13

생명의 말씀

“그런즉 믿음, 소망, 사랑, 이 세 가지는 항상 있을 것인데 그 중에 제일은 사랑이라”

기독교의 핵심은 ‘사랑’이기에 사랑없는 기독교는 죽은 종교입니다. 그러므로 기독교는 사랑의 실천이 가장 큰 신앙의 덕목이며 동시에 새 계명입니다. 먼저는 하나님을 사랑하고, 이웃을 내 몸같이 사랑할 수 있을 때 비로소 우리는 예수님의 제자, 하나님의 자녀로 인정받을 수 있습니다.

세상을 사랑하면 아버지의 사랑이 우리 속에 머물지 않습니다. 인간의 타락의 원인은 하나님의 사랑을 저버리고 세상을 사랑한데 있기 때문에 성도의 첫 번째 결단은 세상과의 ‘단절’이라 할 수 있습니다. 두 주인을 섬기면서 하나님을 사랑한 다 할 수 없기 때문입니다.

또한, 하나님의 사랑을 받은 자는 사랑의 배달부가 되어야 합니다. 하나님의 사랑을 받은 자들은 그 사랑을 나눠주는 일에 인색해서는 안됩니다. 혼자서 음미하고 숨겨두며 맛보라고 주신 사랑이 아니기 때문입니다. 우리 주변에 널려 있는 많은 변두리 인생들을 찾아 내가 받은 사랑을 그대로 나누어 주어야 예수님의 제자가 됩니다. 똑같이 분배되는 사랑을 나 혼자만 독차지 하겠다면 그것이 곧 예수님의 정신을 우리 스스로가 변질시키는 것이나 마찬가지입니다. 하나님의 사랑을 받고, 그 사랑으로 살며, 그 사랑의 열매를 맺고, 그 사랑의 배달부가 될 때 하나님의 나라는 이 땅에 온전히 성취될 수가 있습니다.

끝으로 우리는 하나님의 사랑이 ‘먼저 사랑’이라는 것을 깨달아야 합니다. 하나님의 사랑의 특징은 사랑받을 수 없는 존재를 먼저 찾아오시어 사랑해 주셨다는 것입니다(요일4:10,19). 그러므로 주를 사랑하고 그 사랑을 본받아 사랑의 정신으로 살려고 몸부림치는 자가 남아있는 이 땅의 거룩한 씨, ‘성도’들입니다. 사랑은 믿음과 소망을 연결시켜 주는 희생적 가교 역할을 하는 중요한 매개입니다. 식은 사랑, 가짜 사랑이 아니라 하나님의 뜨거운 사랑을 나누는 참된 성도가 됩시다. 사랑없는 믿음, 사랑없는 소망은 온전치 못하기 때문입니다.

<기도제목>

하나님의 ‘먼저 사랑’을 체험한 자는 날마다 이 사랑을 나누어 주는 일에 힘을 쏟고, 그렇게 할 때 그 힘으로 승리할 수 있습니다. 오늘 하루도 이러한 사랑을 실천하는 하루가 되기를 위해 기도하십시오.

Love Is The Best Above All Things

1 Corinthians 13:3

The Word of Life

“But now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.”

Because love is the core of Christianity, Christianity without love is a dead religion. Therefore the greatest characteristic of Christianity is in practicing the love and at the same time it’s the three commandments. First when we are able to love God and our neighbors like our own bodies then we can become acknowledged as the children of God.

If we love the world, the love of Father will not remain within us. The cause of the fall of mankind is because they forgot the love of God and loved the world. Thus the first determination of a saint is ‘disconnection’ from the world. This is because we cannot serve God whilst serving two owners.

Furthermore, the one who received the love of God must become the deliverer of love. Those who receive the love of God mustn’t be stingy in sharing that love. This is because that love wasn’t given to them for them alone to feel and hide. We can become the disciples of Jesus when we seek out the outlanders who are widely dispersed around us and share the love we’ve received. If we try to claim for ourselves alone the love that has been equally distributed then that is an act of spoiling the spirit of Jesus. When we receive the love of God, bear fruit of love, and become the deliverer of love we can completely fulfill the kingdom of God upon this earth.

In short, we need to realize that the love of God is the ‘first love’. The significant characteristic of God’s love is that He seeks out people who cannot be loved and loves them (1 John 4:10, 19). Therefore, those who love God, mirror that love and try to live with the spirit of love are the remaining holy seeds, or ‘saints’ of this world. Love plays an important sacrificial role in connecting faith and hope. Let us become saints who share the burning life of God rather than a cool, fake love. This is because love without faith and hope cannot be complete.

Prayer Title

When we experience the ‘first love’ of God we can exert our energy in sharing this love and when we do this we can gain victory through that strength. Pray that today you will be able to practice this love.
