정금같은 욥의 믿음

욥23:10

생명의 말씀

“나의 가는 길을 오직 그가 아시나니 그가 나를 단련하신 후에는 내가 정금같이 나오리라”

엄청난 재산의 손실과 자녀의 죽음에 대한 거듭되는 보고 앞에 요동하지 않을 사람은 없을 것입니다. 그러나 욥은 거듭되는 종들의 엄청난 보고 내용에도 흔들리지 않았습니다. 심지어는 자식들마저 다 죽고 “나만 홀로 피한고로 주인께 고하러 왔나이다”(욥1:19)라는 보고를 받고도 땅에 엎드려 여호와께 경배하고 찬송을 드렸습니다. 욥이 이처럼 극심한 위경 가운데서도 승리할 수 있었던 비결은 무엇일까요?

첫째는 이 모든 환난을 하나님의 간섭과 계획 속에서 이루어지는 섭리로 깨달았기 때문입니다. 그러한 사건들이 우연이나 심판의 재앙이 아니라 하나님께서 뭔가 계획을 가지고 진행하시는 일임을 욥이 깨달았다는 말입니다. 그것이 축복의 모양이든, 고난의 모습이든 하나님의 섭리와 계획 속에서 나오는 것은 무조건 선하고 인자하다는 것을 믿었습니다.

둘째는 욥의 성결한 삶입니다. 욥은 날마다 예배로서 자녀들을 양육했습니다. 평상시에 경건한 생활로 인해 은혜가 충만했기에 “그는 나의 걸음을 낱낱이 아시나니 털고 또 털어도 나는 순금처럼 깨끗하리라”(욥23:10, 공동번역)고 고백할 수 있었던 것입니다. 털어서 먼지 않나는 사람 없다고 하였으나 욥은 “나의 증인이 하늘에 계시고 나의 보인이 높은데 계시니라”(욥16:19) 할 정도로 깨끗하였기에 고난 가운데서도 의연할 수 있었습니다.

셋째는 욥이 환난 가운데서 주님의 임재를 바라봤기 때문입니다. “내가 알기에는 나의 구속자가 살아 계시니 후일에 그가 땅 위에 서실 것이라”(욥19:25)는 말씀을 볼 때, 욥은 마지막 때 주께서 이 땅에 오실 것을 보았습니다. 예수만 오시면 모든 구속이 끝나고 은혜와 진리가 충만한 에덴 동산이 이루어질 것을 믿으며 잠시잠간 있는 현재의 고난을 기꺼이 이길 수 있었습니다.

욥과 같이 지혜롭고 성결한 삶을 통해 어떠한 환난과 어려움 속에서도 정금같은 믿음으로 승리할 수 있기를 위해 기도하십시오.

The Faith of Job That is Like Pure Gold

Job 23:10

The Word of Life

“But he knows the way that I take; when he has tested me, I will come forth as gold.”

There must not be a man who will not shake after losing a great deal of wealth and hearing news of the death of his children. However throughout experiencing all of the above atrocities Job did not even quaver. Even when he heard the report from a messenger that “I am the only one has escaped to tell you” (Job 1:19) and that all of his children were dead, prostrate on the ground he gave worship and praise to the Lord. Then what enabled Job to come out victorious through such a severe crisis?

First, it was because he realised that all these hardships occurred within God’s interference and providence. Job knew that all these events were not a judgment or a disaster and just happened coincidentally but were unfolding through God’s plan. Whether it is in the form of blessings or hardships, whatever comes out through God’s providence and plan is good and kind.

Secondly, it is the holy life of Job. Job nurtured his children through worship and because he had lived a righteous life he was able to make this confession. “But he knows the way that I take; when he has tested me, I will come forth as gold” (Job 23:10). Every man has his faults but Job was so pure that in Job 16:19 it is written “even now my witness is in heaven; my advocate is on high” and he was able to remain dignified throughout his hardships.

Thirdly, Job saw the Lord’s presence during his hardships. As it is written in Job 19:25, “I know that my redeemer lives, and that in the end he will stand on the earth”, Job saw the Lord will come down to this Earth on the lastday. He was able to willingly overcome his current hardships with the faith that when Jesus come she’d be freed of all bondage and the Garden of Eden that is full of the truth will be fulfilled.

Prayer title

Pray that you may be able to gain victory through all hardships and trials with faith like Job that is like pure gold by living a wise and holy life.
