장래 보장의 축복
잠24:13-14

생명의 말씀

“내 아들아 꿀을 먹으라 이것이 좋으니라 송이꿀을 먹으라 이것이 네 입에 다니라 지혜가 네 영혼에게 이와 같은 줄을 알라 이것을 얻으면 정녕히 네 장래가 있겠고 네 소망이 끊어지지 아니하리라”

사람은 현재보다 미래를 더 중요시 여기는 존재입니다. 지금 현재 아무리 힘든 시절을 보낸다 해도 변화될 미래에 대한 꿈이 있기 때문이며, 역으로 현재 아무리 평안하고 형통한 생활을 해도 미래에까지 그것이 이어지지 않으면 현재의 축복은 아무런 의미가 없기 때문입니다. 잠언 기자는 ‘꿀과 송이꿀’을 먹는 자들은 소망이 끊어지지 아니하고 장래가 보장되는 축복이 주어진다고 말씀하고 있습니다(잠24:14). 그렇다면 여기서 말씀하는 장래 소망은 무엇을 뜻하는 것일까요?

하나님께서 여호수아에게 모세를 통해 주신 율법을 다 지켜 행하면 “어디로 가든지 너를 복주겠다”(수1:7-8)고 약속하신 말씀을 볼 때, 이는 여호수아의 미래에 대한 축복이라 할 수 있습니다. 하나님의 말씀을 순종하고 따를 때 하나님은 ‘형통케 될 미래’를 보장해 주신다는 말씀입니다. 이것이 사람에게는 소망이 되는 것입니다. 실제로 아브라함은 75세에 하나님의 부르심을 받아 혈혈단신으로 고향을 떠났지만 창24:35절 말씀을 볼 때 큰 복을 받게 되었습니다. 말씀에 순종할 때 불확실했던 아브라함의 미래(장래)는 형통과 번성으로 결실을 맺게 된 것입니다. 이처럼 하나님의 말씀은 각자 우리의 발에 등불이 되시기 때문에(시119:105) 우리의 발길 닿는 곳마다 밝아져서 오직 형통의 복만 있게 됩니다. 사55:10-13절에서도 하나님의 말씀이 나가는 곳마다 형통의 복으로 결실을 맺게 될 것을 분명히 말씀하고 있습니다.

이와같이 형통과 번영의 장래에 대한 소망이 꿀과 송이꿀을 먹는 성도들에게 보장되는 것은 말씀 자체가 지혜가 되기 때문입니다. 예수 안에서 의로움과 지혜가 있기 때문에(고전1:30) 말씀을 통해 예수를 깨닫고 발견한 사람들은 주시는 지혜를 따라 행하기 때문에 범사에 형통의 축복이 보장되는 것입니다.

미래에 대한 여러분의 소망은 어떻습니까? 불확실성으로 인해 불안해 하는 것이 보통 사람들의 모습이지만, 오늘 말씀처럼 꿀과 송이꿀을 먹음으로 하나님께서 장래에 쏟아 부어주실 축복을 소망하며 그것의 결실을 위해 기도하십시오.

The Word of Life

Eat honey, my son, for it is good; honey from the comb is sweet to your taste. Know also that wisdom is like honey for you: If you find it, there is a future hope for you, and your hope will not be cut off.

Humans are beings that consider the future more important than the present. Whatever difficult times they may be spending, because they have a dream that will change their future and conversely, even though they may currently enjoy a comfortable and prosperous life if that life does not continue on to their future the current blessings have no significance. The author of Proverbs is telling us that the one who eats ‘honey and honey from the comb’ will not lose hope and be given the blessed assurance of their future (Prov 24:14). Then what does the future hope that is being referred to mean?

When we read God’s Word of promise where if we keep the laws that He gave to Joshua through Moses, “wherever we go, I will bless you” (Josh 1:7-8), it can be said that this is a blessing towards Joshua’s future. It means that when we obey the Word of God he will guarantee us ‘a blessed future’. This becomes a person’s hope. In fact Abraham received God’s calling at the age of 75 and left his hometown alone but in Genesis 24:35 he received a great blessing. When he obeyed the Word, Abraham’s once uncertain future bore the fruit of prosperity and multiplication. As such, the Word of God becomes a light unto each of our feet (Psa 119:105) therefore wherever our feet touch there will only be the blessing of prosperity. In Isaiah 55:10-13 it tells us that wherever the Word of God goes it will definitely bear fruit through the blessing of prosperity.

Like this, the prosperity, flourishing and hope for the future is guaranteed to saints who eat the honey and honey from the comb, for the Word itself becomes wisdom. Because there is righteousness and wisdom within Jesus (1 Cor 1:30), the person who realizes and discovers Jesus through the Word acts according to the wisdom that is given to them thus the blessing of continuous prosperity is guaranteed.

Prayer Title

What is your hope for your future? The average person is apprehensive and uncertain about their future, however just like today’s main scripture reading by eating the honey and the honey from the comb, may you hope for the future blessings that God will bestow upon your lives and pray that it will bear fruit.
