평생이 한 순식간에
시90:4-6

생명의 말씀

“주의 목전에는 천년이 지나간 어제 같으며 밤의 한 경점 같을 뿐임이니이다 주께서 저희를 홍수처럼 쓸어 가시나이다 저희는 잠간 자는 것 같으며 아침에 돋는 풀 같으니이다 풀은 아침에 꽃이 피어 자라다가 저녁에는 벤바 되어 마르나이다”

인생은 밤의 한 경점같고 티끌과 같은 존재입니다. 아침에 피어 저녁에 벤 바 되어진 풀과 같은 인생입니다. 이러한 인생의 유한성이 주는 교훈은 무엇일까요?

첫째, 하나님의 영원성을 알려주는 말씀입니다. 시74:16절 말씀을 볼 때 “낮도 주의 것이요 밤도 주의 것이라”고 했습니다. 따라서 아침과 저녁은 오직 살아계시는 하나님께서 창조하신 시간이기 때문에, 하나님의 창조의 시간 속에서 살아온 저희들은 마땅히 감사를 드리며, 하나님께서 창조한 빛 가운데서 하나님을 찾아 경배를 드려야 합니다. 또한 하나님께서는 졸지도, 주무시지도 않고 우리를 지켜 주시기 때문에(시121:4) 밤 가운데서 하나님의 실존을 찾아 만나야 합니다.

둘째, 인간의 유한성을 알려주는 말씀입니다. 밤이 됐다가 아침이 오는 것은 우리 인간의 유한성을 가리켜 주고 있습니다. 즉 인간은 하나님과 약속한 계약된 시간만큼 이 땅을 살다 가게 돼 있다는 것입니다(딤후 4:7). 아침이란 꽃이 피고 자라는 때로서, 인생의 시작이나 출발을 의미합니다. 반면에 저녁은 인생의 종말, 끝을 의미하고 있습니다. 그러므로 인생이란 눈 한번 깜짝하는 것처럼 아침이 있고 저녁이 있는 인생입니다. 아침이 영원하지 않은 것처럼 우리 인생은 안개와 같이 유한한 존재입니다.

셋째, 인간의 삶의 양태성을 비교해 주는 말씀입니다. “풀은 아침에 꽃이 피어 자라다가 저녁에는 벤 바 되어 마르나이다”(:6)라고 말씀하고 있습니다. 그러므로 아침과 저녁은 상대적이며, 동시에 우리 인간의 삶의 양태를 비교해 주고 있습니다. 말하자면 성공할 때는 아침이지만 실패할 때는 저녁입니다. 진급해서 올라갈 때는 아침이지만 실직했을 때는 저녁입니다. 출생할 때는 아침이지만 죽을 때는 저녁입니다. 하하 웃을 때는 아침이지만 한숨과 탄식을 내뿜을 때는 저녁입니다. 그러므로 아침은 즐겁고 소망이 넘치지만 대개 밤은 괴롭고 힘든 시간입니다. 그러나 하나님은 아침과 저녁이 다 보시기에 좋았더라고 말씀하셨기에, 그러한 믿음과 신앙으로 살아가는 성도님들이 되시기 바랍니다.

<기도제목>

인생은 정말로 한 순식간입니다. 눈 깜짝할 사이에 지나가는 아침과 저녁입니다. 그러나 아침과 저녁을 창조하신 하나님의 능력을 믿고 주어진 시간에 최선을 다함으로 하나님의 뜻을 이루며, 하나님께 감사하는 삶을 살 수 있기를 위해 기도하십시오.

The Word of Life

A thousand years in your sight are like a day that has just gone by, or like a watch in the night. Yet you sweep people away in the sleep of death—they are like then new grass of the morning: In th morning it springs up new, but by evening it is dry and withered.

Our lives are like a watch in the night. It is like grass that is new in the morning but by evening dry and withered. What is the lesson that our limited life teaches us?

First, it is the Word that teaches us the eternal nature of God. In Psalms 74:16 it teaches us “the day is yours, and yours also the night”. As such morning and night are times in the day that the living God has created, thus we must give thanks for the times we have lived in the time that God has created and seek God within the light that God has created and worship Him. Furthermore, God keeps us safe without falling asleep or sleeping (Psa 121:4). We need to find the existence of God within the night and meet Him.

Second, it is the Word that teaches us the limited nature of mankind. The existence of night and day refers to the limited nature of mankind. This means that mankind can only live for the amount of time that God has promised with us (2 Tim 4:7). Morning is the time when flowers bloom and grow and symbolizes the start or beginning of life. Conversely, night time symbolizes the end of life. Therefore, just like the blink of an eye there is morning and night in life. Just as morning does not last forever, our lives are like a mist of fog that comes and goes.

Third, it is the Word that compares the different aspects of the life of mankind. “In the morning the grass springs up new, but by evening it is dry and withered” (:6). Therefore, morning and night are relative to each other and it is simultaneously comparing the aspects of the life of mankind. In other words when we are successful it is day or morning and when we fail it is evening or night. When we are born it is day but when we die it is night. When we laugh it is day but when we are sighing and lamenting it is night. Therefore, the morning is joyful and overflows with hope but usually the night is a time of pain and suffering. However God has said that He saw both day and night and it was good thus we must become saints who live with such faith and spirit.

Prayer title

Our lives are like a single moment. In a blink of an eye morning passes and it is night. However, we must pray so that we can live a life of giving thanks to God trying our best to fulfill the will of God while giving thanks to Him.
