생명의 말씀

“그 사면의 도합이 일만 팔천척이라 그 날 후로는 그 성읍의 이름을 여호와삼마라 하리라”

‘여호와 삼마’라는 명칭은 구약에서 항상 구원사적인 의미로 사용되었습니다. 즉, 하나님의 자기존재, 영원한 존재를 드러내시는 가운데 하나님의 구원역사를 의미하는 용어로 사용되어 왔던 것입니다.

노아 홍수의 심판의 역사 속에서도 하나님은 ‘여호와 삼마’의 하나님으로 노아와 그 식구들과 함께 동행해 주셨습니다. 방주를 짓고, 방주 안에서 홍수 심판의 기간을 보낼 때도 ‘그곳에’ 하나님은 늘 함께 해주셨던 것입니다. 멸망하는 소돔 고모라에서 롯을 구원하신 하나님께서 당신의 존재를 증명하신 것도 ‘여호와 삼마’의 역사였습니다. 멸망당하는 여리고 성의 함락에서 기생 라합과 그의 가정이 체험은 구원의 은총도 ‘여호와 삼마’의 축복이었습니다. 다른 모든 여리고 성 사람들은 이스라엘에게 함락 당하고 죽임을 당하는데, 기생 라합은 ‘그곳에’ 거하셨던 하나님의 존재로 인해 유일하게 구원을 받았던 것입니다. 다니엘의 세 친구가 풀무불 속에서 살아난 것도 그 속에서까지 그들과 함께 해주셨던 여호와 삼마 하나님의 은혜였던 것입니다(단3:24-27). 이처럼 하나님의 사랑은 놀랍습니다. 뜨거운 풀무불 속, 그곳에도 하나님은 계셨습니다.

이스라엘 백성들이 애굽에서 나와 홍해 앞에 섰을 때 여호와 삼마 하나님의 은혜로 구원을 받았습니다. 이스라엘의 앞에서 백성들을 인도하던 하나님의 사자가 급히 진 뒤로 옮겨갈 때 구름기둥도 함께하여 밤새도록 애굽의 군대가 접근하지 못하도록 방어해주고 있는 현장, 그곳에서도 하나님은 백성들과 함께해 주셨던 것입니다(출14:15-20). 이스라엘 백성들이 거하는 곳에는 광명이요 애굽의 군대가 있는 곳에는 캄캄한 흑암만 있었다는 것은 여호와 삼마의 하나님께서 이스라엘이 거하는 곳에 함께 하셔서 그들을 지켜주고 보호해 주시고 계심을 말해주고 있습니다.

언제나 이스라엘 백성들의 삶의 현장에서 문제를 해결해주시고 위경에서 건져주셨던 여호와 삼마 하나님의 역사가 오늘 나의 삶에도 임하기를 간절히 기도하십시오.

Ezekiel 48:35

The Word of Life

“The distance all around will be 18,000 cubits. “And the name of the city from that time on will be: THE LORD IS THERE.”

The title “Jehova Shammah” has always been used in significance of the history of redemption. Hence, it has been used as a title to signify God’s work in the history of redemption by revealing his everlasting existence.

Throughout the history of the flood judgment in Noah’s time, God came as “Jehovah Shammah” and abided with Noah and his family. Even when we calculate the duration of the construction of Noah’s Ark and the flood judgment, “The Lord who is there” was always with them. It was the work of the “Jehovah Shammah” God who attested His existence by saving Lot from the collapsing city of Sodom and Gommorah.

It too was the saving grace of “Jehovah Shammah” who saved Rahab the harlot and her family from the enemy fortress of Jericho city. All other inhabitants of the city of Jericho fell at the hands of the enemy. However, Rahab the harlot was the only person who was saved by the existence of the God who was “there”. It was also the grace of God that was with Daniel and his three friends within the blazing furnace that let them leave unharmed (Dan 3:24-27). Like this, the love of God is amazing. God was there, even within the blazing furnace.

The Israelites received salvation through the grace of the God of Jehovah Shammah when they stood before the Red Sea after they had come out of Egypt. God was with His people throughout every step, when the lion of God that went before the Israelites and led them suddenly moved behind the tents, he protected them with the pillars of clouds so that the Egyptian army could not draw near (Exo 14:15-20). The fact that there was brightness wherever the Israelites remained but only pitch black darkness where the Egyptians went shows us that the God of Jehovah Shammah was with the Israelites in their dwelling place and protecting them.

Pray earnestly that today the work of the Jehovah Shammah God that always solved the problems of the Israelites in their everyday lives and delivered them from crisis will come upon your lives.
