01. 믿음의 시작
The Beginning of Faith
박윤식 목사님은 일제 치하였던 1928년 5월 17일 황해도 사리원의 상인 가정에서 출생하셨습니다. 일제강점기 말, 황해도 지역에는 김익두 목사님이 수많은 부흥회를 열며 활동하고 있었습니다. 박윤식 목사님의 할머니께서는 비 오는 날 우산을 빌려준 한 교회 성도에게 감사를 표하기 위해 김익두 목사님의 부흥집회에 참석하였고, 이것이 5대째 불교 집안을 송두리째 기독교 집안으로 바꾸는 출발점이 되었습니다.
Rev. Park was born into a merchant family in Sariwon of Hwanghae Province on May 17, 1928. During the latter period of Japanese annexation, Rev. Kim Ik-Doo was very active in the Hwanghae region and led countless revival assemblies. One rainy day, Rev. Park’s grandmother was offered an umbrella from a churchgoer. Wishing to express her gratitude, she agreed to attend Rev. Kim’s revival assembly. This was how a fivegeneration Buddhist family became Christian.
이후 박윤식 목사님은 해방 이후 1946년 해주동중을 졸업하고 공산권 최고 대학이었던 모스크바대학이나 김일성 대학을 가려고 했지만, 상인 가정 출신이라는 이유로 진학할 수 없었습니다. 이어서 예수를 믿는다는 이유로 자식에게 아버지의 머리를 톱으로 썰게 하는 참상을 목도하며 공산주의의 실체를 깨달은 박윤식 목사님은 1948년 5월 17일 새벽 2시부로 월남하여 전남 나주 영산포에 정착하여 국방경비대에 입대하였습니다.
In 1946, a year after Korea gained independence, Rev. Park graduated from Haejudong Middle School. He wanted to enroll in either Kim Il-Sung University or Moscow University, the two most prestigious communist institutions, but he could not for the reason that he was from a merchant family. Upon witnessing a horrifying scene of a son sawing off his father’s head because of their faith in Jesus, Rev. Park realized the true nature of Communism. On May 17, 1948 at 2 AM, he defected to South Korea and settled in Yeongsanpo in the city of Naju, South Jolla Province. He then enlisted in the National Guard.
