직분의 생명력은 오직 충성 2

생명의 말씀

“나를 능하게 하신 그리스도 예수 우리 주께 내가 감사함은 나를 충성되이 여겨 내게 직분을 맡기심이니”

교회의 생명력은 직분자의 충성에서 나옵니다. 하나님은 충성된 자에게 절대 외면하지 않고 충성한 만큼 그 가정과 교회에 임마누엘의 축복으로 함께해 주시기 때문입니다. 그렇다면 직분자로서 우리는 어떻게 하나님 앞에 충성해야 할까요?

첫째, 직분자는 자신의 직분에 ‘집중’해야 합니다. 집중이란 마음을 하나로 모아서 그 일에 전념하는 것을 말합니다. 충성하는 척 하면서 다른 곳에 마음을 빼앗기고 한눈을 판다면 그러한 사람은 만명이 있어도 전혀 도움이 되지 않습니다. 단 한사람이 있더라도 주어진 직분에 집중하는 충성스런 일꾼 한 사람이 필요한 것입니다.

둘째, 직분자는 주인의 갈증을 풀어주는 얼음냉수와 같이 충성해야 합니다. 직분자의 사명을 자신을 세워주신 주인의 마음을 시원케 해주는 존재입니다. 잠언서 기자도 “추수하는 날에 얼음냉수”같이 주인의 마음을 시원케 하는 ‘충성된 사자’(잠25:13)에 대해 말씀하고 있습니다. 우리의 주인은 오직 예수 그리스도 한분 뿐입니다. 그분의 심정을 헤아려 속시원한 열매를 맺어 드리는 것, 그것이 우리가 감당해야할 충성의 모습입니다.

셋째, 직분자는 좌우가 없이 언제나 앞으로 전진하는 사람입니다. 충성하는 자는 마음 중심이 잡힌 사람입니다. 정직하고 정도만 걷는 사람입니다. 좌고우면하지 않고 두 마음을 품지 않습니다. 이러한 충성의 성품은 인간적인 노력으로 얻어지는 것이 아니라 성령의 열매이기도 합니다(갈5:22). 나의 인간적인 노력과 열심만으로 이루어지는게 아닙니다. 성령께서 도우시고 은혜를 주실 때 오직 한길로 달려가며 전진할 수 있습니다. 참된 충성의 열매를 맺을 수 있습니다.

먼 땅에서 오는 좋은 기별은 목마른 사람에게 냉수와 같다고 하였습니다(잠25:25). 자신의 자리에서 묵묵히 충성을 다할 때 그 충성의 열매는 먼데 사람에게 전달되어 갈증을 풀어주는 시원한 냉수가 됩니다. 주님 앞에 이와같이 충성스런 존재가 되시기 바랍니다.

직분을 맡고서도 우왕좌왕하지는 않았습니까? 성령의 은사를 통해 충성의 마음을 받아 주어진 일에 오직 한 마음으로, 전심으로 달려가서 타작마당의 얼음냉수와 같이 주인되신 하나님의 마음을 시원케 해드리는 삶을 살 수 있도록 기도하십시오.

The Word of Life

“I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me strength, that he considered me trustworthy, appointing me to his service.”

The life force of a church stems from the loyalty of a task holder. God never ignores those who are loyal and stays with that family through the blessing of Immanuel. Then how should we be loyal to God as workers?

First, the worker must ‘concentrate’ on his/her task. Concentrating means to gather ones heart and exert all energy into a task. Even if we have ten thousand people, if they cannot concentrate and constantly lose their mind and sight on other things they are useless. A person that is a loyal worker who is focused is needed only if there one.

Second, a task holder must be loyal and become like ice cold water that quenches the master’s thirst. The duty of the task holder is to refresh the master’s heart. The author of Proverbs speaks of the ‘trustworthy messenger’ (Prov 25:13) who “like a snow-cooled drink at harvest time” refreshes the spirit of his master. Our master is only Jesus Christ himself. We must uphold the task of understanding his heart and bear fruit for him.

Third, the task holder does not have left or right but only moves forward. The one who is loyal is a person who has a heart that is focused at the center. Such traits of loyalty are not gained through human effort but is also a form of a fruit of the Holy Spirit (Gal 5:22). It is not fulfilled through our humanly efforts and zeal. When the Holy Spirit helps us and gives us grace, we are able to go forth on one path and able to bear true fruit of loyalty.

It is written in Proverbs 25:25 that cold water to a weary soul is like good news from a distant land. When we pledge full loyalty in the position that we are given, that loyalty will become cold water that quenches the thirst of a person in a distant land. May you become a loyal person in the presence of the Lord.

Prayer Title

Did we not go this way and that even though we were assigned a position? Through the loyal heart that was given to you by the gift of the Holy Spirit, may you run forth with only one heart and pray that you can become the cold water on the threshing floor and refresh the heart of God.
