출15:8

생명의 말씀

“주의 콧김에 물이 쌓이되 파도가 언덕 같이 일어서고 큰 물이 바다 가운데 엉기나이다”

사람이 아무리 강하고 능력이 있다 해도 하나님 앞에 서면 너무나 나약하고 미약한 존재에 불과합니다. 사람들에게는 엄청난 ‘기적’도 하나님에게는 단지 콧김에 불과하기 때문입니다.

첫째, 홍해바다의 기적도 하나님의 콧김으로 일어났습니다. 출애굽 후 부푼 꿈을 안고 가나안으로 향하던 이스라엘 백성들 앞에는 홍해 바다가 길을 가로막고 있고 뒤로는 변심한 바로 왕의 군대들이 흙먼지를 일으키며 질풍노도처럼 달려오고 있습니다. 그야말로 진퇴양난의 위기에 처한 것입니다. 이 때 원망하는 이스라엘 백성들을 잠재우고 모세의 기도를 들으신 하나님께서 취하신 방법은 홍해바다를 갈라 마른 땅으로 무사히 건너게 하신 놀라운 이적이었습니다. 그런데 이처럼 놀라운 기사이적도 성경을 볼 때 한낱 하나님의 ‘콧김’으로 이루어진 것에 불과합니다. “주의 콧김에 물이 쌓이되 파도가 언덕 같이 일어서고 큰 물이 바다 가운데 엉기나이다”(출15:8). 이 얼마나 놀라운 하나님의 능력입니까?

둘째, 흙으로 창조한 아담에 생기를 불어넣어 주셨습니다. 아담이 하나님의 형상대로 지음을 받았지만 하나님의 생기를 받지 못하면 그야말로 ‘흙덩어리’에 불과합니다. 그런데 하나님은 아담을 지으시고 그의 코에 ‘생기’를 불어 넣으셨습니다(창2:7). 그 결과 아담이 흙에서 ‘생령’의 존재로 지음을 받았다면, 이처럼 생기의 역사를 불러일으키는 하나님의 콧김의 능력은 참으로 위대한 것입니다.

셋째, 부활하신 주께서 제자들에게 성령의 숨을 내쉬셨습니다. 부활하신 예수께서는 두려움에 떨고 있는 제자들에게 나타나셔서 ‘평강’의 축복을 선포하셨습니다. 이어 당신의 손과 옆구리를 보고 주님이심을 확인한 제자들에게 ‘숨을 내쉬며’ 성령을 받게 하셨습니다(요20:22). 이는 연약함과 두려움에 사로잡힌 제자들을 새롭게 창조하는 재창조의 숨결이라면, 주님의 콧김은 이처럼 놀라운 구원과 창조의 능력을 가져오는 힘입니다.

<기도제목>

하나님의 콧김으로 구원받고 하나님의 콧김으로 창조함을 받은 존재가 사람입니다. 이처럼 놀라운 하나님의 능력 앞에 겸손함으로 충성하고, 그 능력으로 죄악과 싸워 승리할 수 있는 하루를 살도록 기도하십시오.

The Beath of God’s Nostrils
Exodus 15:8

The Word of Life

By the blast of your nostrils the waters piled up. The surging waters stood up like a wall; the deep waters congealed in the heart of the sea.

First, the miracle of the Red Sea occurred through the breath of God’s nostrils. Ahead of the Israelites who were headed for the land of Canaan following their exodus was the Red Sea blocking their way and behind them was the Pharaoh’s army who were chasing after them at lightning speed. Indeed they were in a state of emergency. Here Moses calmed down the Israelites who were in an uproar of discontent and God who had heard Moses’ prayer divided the Red Sea and allowed them to walk on dry land over to the other side. However, even at such an astonishing miracle, when we read the Bible it tells us it was carried out through the ‘breath’ of God’s nostrils. “By the blast of your nostrils the waters piled up. The surging waters stood up like a wall; the deep waters congealed in the heart of the sea” (Exo 15:8). How amazing is the power of God?

Second, God breathed the breath of life into Adam whom He had created. Adam was created in the image of God. If he hadn't recieved the breath of life from God then he would not have surpassed being a 'lump of dirt' but after God created Adam He breathed into him the breath of life (Gen 2:7). As a result Adam was created into a 'living' being and as such the power of the breath of God's nostrils is truly great.

Third, the Lord who ressurected breathed out the breath of the Holy Spirit to the disciples. Jesus who ressurected appeared before the disciples who were trembling in fear and proclaimed the blessing of peace. Then he breathed out to the disciples who had confirmed that it was actually him by seeing his hands and side and allowed them to recieve the Holy Spirit (John 20:22). This was the breath of re-creation that would newly create the disciples who were immersed in weakness and fear. As such the breath of God is the strength that brings such astonishing power of salvation and creation.

Prayer Title

Man is a being who has recieved salvation and creation through the breath of God's nostrils. As such before the amazing power of God we must pray to humbly obey and through that power fight with sin and live a victorious life.
